Max Range for These Groups?

Here are some groups from my .270 Tikka shooting 145 ELD-X Precision Hunter factory ammo at 100 yards. What would be a max reasonable distance to shoot at deer with these groups? I hunt out of a box blind with the window frames making a solid rest. I key holed a couple times in first target. I've practiced to 400 in the off season. My 6.5 Creedmoor groups a little tighter.

try it at 300 and 400 and see if your groups stay at about the same moa this will give you the answer

Being as 100 is as far as you've shot them, then I'd say 100's your "reasonable distance" at this time.

Two things:

One the key thing would be of concern

Two shoot them at 300 and 400 and see how the grouping goes

My bad, good catch....key holed thing is what I meant to say

If it holds MOA there's no reason you can't punch a hole through both lungs @ 500. Problem is you havnt shot them that far. Could be throwing down 3" groups at 500 or they could be 9". Only one way to learn

If your bullets are key holing @ 100?

a bullet tumbling....a that would be a no

I believe you two fellows have different definitions of key holing

Key holing referencing a bullet That is tumbling or are you trying to say you're shooting a tight group? The two are very separate

Agree 100% with this. If you haven't shot at (insert distance) at paper then don't shoot game at given distance. Just my 2 cents.

Like said , shoot out to 300, 400, check group size, one thing to remember is with a little adrenaline, a little wind, ones group can open up fast.
