I scouted out a nice location with plenty of big rams this year but didn't feel comfortable packing one out solo in that terrain. Access is by a 5 mile off trail hike with about 5100 feet of elevation gain. I'm looking for someone in great shape who, like me, doesn't want to spend the money to fly out someplace, to go do a weeklong hunt in the area next year and hopefully come out with a ram each. There's a strong possibility that ridgeline navigation will be involved along with the typical hiking load endemic to sheep hunting.

I'd be interested, but I don't if I'll be in sheep shape by then lol. I'm in palmer. Nice looking area though!

Are you going to be hunting on Wrangle island? My buddy lives on Wrangle, I didn't realize they had Dall sheep on the island, this could be interesting.

Interestingly the park and preserve are not related to the island and town, just named after the same guy. They're about 500 miles apart. Wrangell the town/island has blacktail and goat. Wrangell-St Elias the national preserve has goat, sheep, and moose.

Is this a guided hunt or diy? I'm in shape, do a lot of mountain elk hunting, elevation is no concern, the harder the better, distance doesn't bother me, done my own solo hunts..... I'm you're man. Just one problem....that's right in the middle of wheat harvest (I'm a farmer). Any other dates available? End of August? First week of August?

Please pm me.

I just harvested this Sheep in Colorado on 10/04 of this year. In very good shape 5'9', 158 pounds.
Found, harvested and packed this sheep out myself. Hunted for Dall's in 2009 unsuccessfully but I have
2 sheep hunts behind me. I know what it takes, have the equipment, means and attitude to be a great partner.
I live in Idaho and would be very interested.

Most sheep are in pretty good shape. But sounds like a tall, string bean of a ram. 😆

Anyways, I'm sure he would rather go with someone that hasn't killed a ram yet, but just as capable and outfitted. Haha 😉
