New build. Short barreled silenced. Which round

I'm planning a build with a prefit from straight jacket. Lone peak razor, bartelien carbon barrel at 16.5 inches, XLR element chassis with folder. I'm planning a 6.5 cal, just deciding between two. Either a 6.5 prc, or a 6.5 SAUM. What's everyone's thoughts and ideas on these rounds in such a short barrel, just remember this is with a silencer.

I just finished my long range build, 7 Saum -26 inch barrel..now looking for a brush type gun. I'll probably put a small light scope on it as well and it'll fit inside my backpack. More of an inside 3-400 yard gun
 
Nick does a lot of my builds and I cant speak for the 2 you mentioned but the SS will probably run a 140 at least 3000'
 
What you should be concerned with is if your suppressor will handle a short barrel magnum. My TBAC is only rated for a 20" barrel with a 6.5 saum and variant.

3000 FPS with a 140 in a 16.5" 6.5ss will surely save you time on reloading. Should be throwaway brass at that point.

We have guys running the 156 up to 3000' with the156 and not throwing their brass away with a 20". So you're wrong!
I hear this stuff from people, mostly who have never shot one, and customers prove them wrong all the time. Ask some smiths who have built them.

I've had 2 6.5ss. My current is maxed out at 2950 with a 140 Berger suppresses in a 20" barrel. My last one wouldn't hit 3050 with a 24" barrel. I'm sure you put enough powder in it it'll reach 3000 fps but I doubt it's an accuracy node. unlike a lot of sherman loads I see, my brass doesn't have ejector marks, faint or not. I can drop my mag in a bucket of water and not have my bolt seize up, would be interesting to see if some of these other customers could do the same.

I have some pretty respected customers doing it. Not my testing, but theirs.
Lance Kenyon, a very respected forum member, has run the 156 up to 3000 and settled on an every day load in the mid 2900's.
My guess is you may have a Proof barrel?

Both were proof barrels. Lance is a friend of mine and I know how he loads.

The Sherman's are great for short action builds, but ejector marks on brass are a no go for me.
 
Interesting.

I feel like if going short barreled you make better use of the barrel with a greater bore diameter. Im planning a 20 inch short mag build and have been planning a 30 cal as i love the big bergers and they simply don't require massive amounts of speed.

For example, if you can get the 215 to 2600 fps it maintains 2000 fps out to 500 yards at sea level.

BTW, I think Proof is a good company that ran into a string of bad luck, and I feel for them! They WILL get it together and I wish them the best! To their credit, as far as I know, they have replaced the barrels that were bad. You can't ask for more than that!
You cant blame the cartridge when its something else.
