I've been a Bergara fan but seeing the price and "award winning" combination made me curious about one as well. Between Tikka and Bergara I'll take a Bergara. Not a knock on Tikka, a couple of buddies shoot them and they shoot well. I am just more of a Rem 700 footprint and action fan.

Other than a few cosmetic changes the Mauser M18 is the same rifle as the Sauer 100. If you search the forum for Sauer 100 you will find several threads on how they shoot. One member, Jon Bischof has achieved great accuracy with his 6.5CM and a 30-06 Sauer 100.

Havent had a chance to shoot it yet, but with it sitting next to a couple of my mossbergs, savages, Rugers and a tikka, it leans towards a tikka as far as quality, feel and smoothness. the short throw is sweet, fast. Polymer trigger guard is a detractor according to some but I Have no complaints yet. If someone told me it was a $700 rifle I wouldn't question it.

Most bang for the buck
I wouldn't put any stock in the Golden Bullseye award; it's been given to plenty of lemons in the past.
Having said that, my wife has an M18 in 6.5CM and I've been very impressed with it for what it is. The action is very fast, the trigger is great and the adjustments actually work, it feels good in the hand, it feeds and ejects reliably, and the accuracy is definitely there. Mauser guarantees 5-round sub-MOA groups, and it's definitely capable of that with the right ammo.
Downsides? While the action is actually quite smooth for the price point, the bolt has a kind of a mild "zipper" sound at first when you run it. It definitely does smooth out the more you use it, though, so I wouldn't worry about it at all.
The stock is cheap, of course, and it does mate to the action via an unconventional design. It's easy to work on, that's not a problem. There are no aftermarket stocks available.
The biggest possible drawback I see is that there's no telling how long they'll be around. The market is crowded and they're already being heavily discounted. That said, for the price you can get them at now, I think it's the best deal on the market— IF you just want a great entry-level hunting rifle and aren't hoping to build on it. The Tikka T3x is still king of the budget bolt actions, but it's pretty rare to find a new one in the $400 range where the M18 lives.
If you need a $400 hunting rifle, this is a great one to get. Buy a couple extra mags while they're available.

I ordered one from EuroOptic last week in .308. Read the review written by Tom Beckstrand at G&A. I respect his opinion and for the money, I thought I would give it a shot. It may end up as a rifle for my daughter or as a rifle to leave on the wheeler. I'll let you know how mine shoots once I get it and put some glass on it.
I have the M18 in 6.5PRC 24.4" at $479 (other calibers at $399). Bought it just to play with the 6.5PRC in an inexpensive hunting rifle before deciding whether to do that cartridge in a Barrel Makers Kit for one of my MRADs.. Mounted a Leupold Mark 4 6.5-20x50 FFP TS-60MOA reticle. As I recall, it uses the Rem700 LA bases. It is not the CRF Mauser action. Have only shot at 100y out the back door range; less than 50 rounds. Haven't extended range yet. Early experience it easily shoots ~.75MOA with factory ammo at 100y prone/pack. Having an old fart morning. I'm embarrassed to admit I can't for the life of me recall which ammo or Labradar velocities....maybe 147gr ELD??? And, I'm not at the lodge to check. It will be a very acceptable hunting rifle, especially for the cost. I can explore the 6.5PRC, beat it around, let the younguns take her out, and not have much at risk whatever it encounters.

I have a M12 which is its big brother. It's perhaps the only factory rifle I own that I wouldn't part with.
