Magnetospeed

Ahh
It is carbon fiber and weights almost nothing. I absolutely need the length when shooting a 25" barrel plus suppressor.

When shooting with short barrels without suppressor it has never bothered me—just slide the excess length rearward and out of the way.
ahhhh. Ok great. Thx!

Does anyone know how far below the bore you can be before the MS stops picking up?
I've found any more than a half inch (1/2") and while it still record most shots it then becomes all for naught. So I've done considerable messing around and so far this one fits both rifles without adjustment and I've also had it a friends AI by just tightening the screws. The washers are available in case... I've had and used my MS since they came out and I have to say that the company is top notch when it comes to service. I had to replace the bayonet (my fault; haste do indeed make waste) and the electronic unit. I've used the MS below minus 40 F. Yeah, I know doing that provides the numerical quantification of my IQ!

If using the Sporter, you can turn up the gain and adjust settings on the unit (which I think going trough is a PIA) or you can get the $25 dongle and free APP (way more easy & faster) to do it all through a compatible device, when bullets aren't detected. I'v 2 Sporter's to do two rifles at a time, with APP/Android device. All information is saved through the APP to either upload to PC or read from APP when you want.

Has anyone shortened the rod?? Seems longer than it needs to be
I've been meaning to my 338 Lapua has a longer barrel then my 6.5 that is in the picture I posted and I've been waiting to get it back from being re-barreled so I didn't cut it too short well I got it back about a week ago and haven't gotten around to shortening it yet

Well out of sheer dumb luck I was going through my smaller bench that's covered in small parts, tools, cleaning supplies , etc. it's horribly unorganized and low and behold I found a 4.5" 9 slot section of rail that fits both of my hand guards. I have no memory of ordering that longer rail section and it was likely several years ago, but I got it mounted up to one of my rifles and with both of the Wiser mount clamps on tight the mount is very rigid and alignment is perfect and not going anywhere. Super excited to have found that rail section - still in its packaging ... saved myself some decent money now that I don't have to get the MKM mount instead!

Well see there, this quarantine is good for something!! We get bored and start looking around at projects we should have done months ago! Good for you. Maybe you have some RE 26, H1000, Retumbo and Varget hidden under that mess!!

I did just tap into an 8# keg of Varget I had picked up a few years ago!

Hello all. Looking to get advice on the Wiser mount. Tired of not being able to chrono loads without fear of poi shifts when Magnetospeed is attached to gun. Hate to shoot 2 different groups, one for speed and one for group size. Not ready to spend the money on the Labradsr. Is the Wiser mount just a gimmick, does it switch easily to other rifles on site, pros and cons, ect. Want to make my range trips count, and need a new option to mount Magnetospeed on various rifles. Thx in advance. Pete
Humph....Magnetospeed....the stuff MacGuyvers live for....Jury Rig Central. Save your lunch money and buy a Labradar.

Well speaking for myself, I have more time than money!! My dad kinda beat that into me as a kid. We had to un bend nails so he didn't have to buy new one. God rest his soul. Miss the heck out of him.

Brother...!?!?!?!? You sound like we had the same dad!! :) :) And, I sure feel the same "missing dad." Noticing how he still gets smarter every year. My dad, and sounds like your dad, was part of the Depression era kids that became the Greatest Generation ever. Yeah, I've smashed a few finger nails straightening the other nails. Dad never grossed more than $28k/year from his primary job (I pay more Federal estimated tax quarterly)....always generated several additional income streams......but, lived a very comfortable modest life, and died a multi-millionaire. He sent me to engineering school....first in our family to graduate college. But, more importantly he taught me about money and cash flow and managing "Me, Inc" as critical, but renewable, expandable resources. Heartbeats...not so. Because of his mentoring and example, I don't straighten nails....or even drive them (although he taught me to do so well...built my first few houses...yeah, with Dad). And, with that engineering base, I can MacGuyver with the best of them. But, then there's that heartbeat thingy he also taught me, and his "Do as I suggest, not as I did." Thanks, Dad. Miss You. Save your lunch money. :) :)
