recommended powders and loads for the 270Win

im new to 270Win this was my 1st year hunting with it and I think I'm going to like it - any recommended powders and loads for the 270Win greatly appreciated I have been loading 150 Nos partitions with 58gr H1000 its accurate in one of my 270s , I'm going to try IMR 7977 seems to have more velocity - any recommendations or help appreciated

You might want to try REL-23 with the same bullet. I shoot 58.0 grains in Norma cases with Federal 210 match primers. This load can be upped a bit, but I get my best accuracy there. My LabRadar says 2975 avg. velocity. This is my go to hunting load in my Remington 700 with the stock 24" barrel. After bedding, installation of a Rifle Basix trigger, and cutting an 11 deg. crown, this has proven to be a consistent .6 to .75 MOA rifle. I switched from REL-22 2 years ago when testing proved that 23 is a much more temperature stable powder. I tried both of the powders that you have listed, but neither gave me the accuracy I wanted. (IMR 7977 came awfully close though) Good luck!

My Remington 721, built in 1952, shoots .550 moa, with Nosler 140 grain BT, Hornady brass, IMR 4350, 48.5 gns, Federal 210M primers, 1:10 twist. This is a stable accurate load.

For me: 130 Accubond 60gr H4831 CCI 200 primer usually use Rem brass
I tried 5 different primers and in my rifle the CCI200 work best .5-.6 groups at 100 yrds off my bench. Rifle is a 1978 700 ADL my father bought me new so 22" barrel. Reworked Walker trigger.
I tried the other suggested powders such as RL16 7828 RL17 and IMR4350 but could never get the same accuracy Maybe I never hit the right combo... happy with what I have the deer not so much!

I use 117gr sledgehammer with 60gr of h4831 and standard Winchester primer. Shooting about .7 moa out of my TC compass.

We've had really good accuracy and velocities with the 130 gr nosler ballistic tip. Will flatten whitetail

Actually it was IMR-4831 but, regardless, 4831 with a 130gr bullet has been the standard since the. 270 could be reloaded. Dang, I'm getting old!

When I had a .270, I used 140gr Sierras or Hornadys and had my best luck with IMR 4831 or RL23. I had a 22" barrel and could get 2935-2970 with multiple load combinations.

Nosler shows h4350 as their most accurate load, rl 26 will get you the velocity for the 150. Just some FYI nosler has a 150 accubond now (not long range) they might be a good alternative as well. Best wishes

140 HVLD & H4831 @ 3000fps in my old 24" Interarms Mark X. Killed plenty of deer and elk over the years.

I ran 60.0 of H4831 for over 30 years. I had H4831 pulldown powder or surplus which is closer to IMR7828 today in speed. The drops figured out to 3150 for me.
I tried Rl26 a few years ago. I ran ladders with 130s, 140s 145s and 150s. 130's I shoot at 3139 ES3 SD>1 Didn't hit pressure saw 3215fps with Magneto Speed. The 140 gamechangers bottom group also shoot at 3140 ES 1 over 3 shots. The top before I stopped and went back to the load I use was @ 3190fps. 145's i hit pressure At 3240. I had to see where it was have not done anything with these since. 150 interbonds in another weatherby vangard not mine has a .030 shorter throat. I hit pressure at 3170fps. He is shooting them at 3105 ES 5 Sd2.1. The 130s are Fed brass everything else is Winchester brass.
The top target is a day I had just shot drops to 650. I had .1 right wind dialed and my zero is 200yds this is 100yds. 130sst
Second target is the same load at 620yds. My students had a perfect wind day but as they went longer the targets were showing a l to r wind at 1-2mph. I told them this and said my bullet should hit about 4" to the right and 1" low if it's 1mph
The 3rd target was again 100yds with a 200yd zero
Rifle is a weatherby vangard now in an MDT LSS-XL chassis. I had an issue with the rings but since I have had the most solid zero this rifle has ever had. Bought new in 1998

Yep ADI 2231SC or as you know it H4831SC is where I got my best accuracy from 130gr projectiles.
Also have a 90gr load with ADI 2208 or Varget as you know it.

I don't know why so many people are so focused on squeezing speed out of a load, personally I will take the load that shoots 1/2moa & 150fps less than a load that only gets me 1moa!

On choosing powders it pays to know what is always going to be most readily available. I know at times there are supply issues so I base all my reloading on that theory/

I have also moved my 270's to R-26. for 140 - 175 gr
