I've had the itch for awhile to add another 6.5 to the safe & finally pulled the trigger this week. Not 100% I made the right choice which tells me later this year I'll probably add another 6.5. I was between the tried & trued 6.5-284 & the new 6.5 prc both in a CA ridgeline. In the end I went with the prc burnt bronze 8 twist 24" barrel. The plan is for this to be my main hunting rifle so the 2" less barrel length appealed to be. I know all rifles are different but anyone shooting a 6.5 prc ridgeline in here & if so what's it like?

I was a sucker for 6.5 before 6.5 was cool. WOW! That would make a good country song. My first 6.5 that I fell in love with was 6.5x55 in the old 96 Swede Mauser about 35 or so years ago. Even with the lower pressure loads with that 29" barrel you can achieve pretty high velocity. I found one that someone had already started hacking on and sported it and left the barrel alone. I have killed deer waaaaaaaaaaaaay across bean fields with it shooting 120s at 2950 fps and 140s at 2800 fps. I have some 6.5x55s, 6.5 Grendel's and one long barrel 27 3/4 264 Win mag. This pretty much covers the 6.5 spectrum of my needs.

I'll say! That is exactly how I started with 6.5mm bore size. M96 Mauser 6.5x55 made in 1910. Still have it. 120gr Nosler Ballistic Tip with H4895 (yeah I know) are deadly accurate in mine.

I have a CA Ridgeline and I love it. Working on different loads but it has shot just about everything I have stuffed in it sub moa to 200. It even shoots the factory ammo under sub moa and that I have tried to 600. Just got my first order of ADG brass so I will be doing some reloading this weekend and try and get out and shoot it up. Working on 156 Berger's and 140 Grain Berger's. Good Luck and Congrats on your new toy. I think you will like it!
I also have a 6.5 x284 in a Fierce. It shoots bug holes with the 140 Berger Elite Hunters. I think either would have been a good choice but more is always better..... :)

I started with a model 70 264 win mag. Didn't like how it shot so I sold it. I've since got another model 70 this one from 1979 that shoots like a dream. My Swede is on a fn action & Krieger barrel . It was built by the same guy that built my 7mm rem mag & my other 264 win mag.

One other thing that helped was even though they were both marked down the prc was $100 cheaper. Both with the burnt bronze finish.

I should have my 6.5 prc finished in about 3 weeks. Im going to start a 264 win mag sometimes this year.

My custom 264win mag is on a weatherby mark v action that started life as 257 weatherby. It's got a 8 twist brux fluted barrel with a brake 28" total. I didn't pick the barrel or length. Someone had it built then didn't pay.

I'm guessing that you don't have any problems achieving desired velocities with it. Do you notice much accuracy difference between it and your prc?

I started out with a 6.5 rem mag in a 673 remington. I liked it, but wanted a long action, so traded it for a 264 win mag in a ruger 77 hawkeye. Added a McMillan sako style varmint stock, polished the trigger, and glass bedded and pillar bedded, and it will shoot match bullets into 1/4". Now I'm thinking I need a 6.5-06, so looking at 3 on gunbroker. One's a ruger no 1 with a Douglas premium barrel, one's a zastava with an E.R. Shaw heavy sporter, helical fluted barrel, and one's a rem 700 with a 28" Brux barrel. Decisions, Decisions.

I have that identical Ridgeline 6.5 PRC. You will be pleased with it. I haven't reloaded for it yet, using Choice Ammo 140 NAB and H-VLD both .75 moa
Fact is I'm a lefty so I'm going to sell this and Alamo is building a left hand PRC for me.

First centerfold rifle I shot (and learned how to shoot, besides a Marlin 60 .22) was a Mauser 96 Swede. My father always had a Swede as far as I can remember. Myself, I'm a Grendel and .260 Rem. supporter. (But my favorite is the 7 SAUM).
But hoping to build a 6.5 PRC next summer.

6.5 came into my life as a sporterized pawnshop find Sweed engineer carbine. That led to a 6.5x284 or three and a 6.5WSM that wouldnt hunt.
Liked the old sweede enough to add a Tikka in 6.5x55 a couple years ago.
Really like my CZ527 in 223 so when they offered the 527 in 6.5 Grendel I bought the first one I came accross. This led to an AR 6.5 build, BCA barrel shoots better thanthe CZ so far but has yet to be hunted with.
At this point I have no plan for a bigger 6.5 but ?
