Best factory ammo to site new 300 WSM?

Barnes Vor-tx is usually very accurate for factory ammo, should work to get you started.
I bought some of the Norma Oryx 165 gr ammo and it shot well for me, plus it was about 100 fps faster than my handloads. Then you're left with nice Norma brass

I have seen lots of guys say the "optimal" weight for the Tikka's is right around 180 gr due to the 1:11 twist (wish they would change that twist rate, they have some nice looking rifles)

This is my first long range rifle.
Can you fill me in on the dislike of the 1:11 twist?

Can't speak for really long range but my primary hunting gun for 0-450 yards is a 300 wm. 11 twist.
I use hold over and the gun is a spectacular killer.
I load h1000 with 180 gr accubond or Hornady interlock and it is devastating on deer or elk.
3040FPS.
3 inch high at 100 and 1 in low at 300.
11 inch low at 400 and 30 inch low at 500
It's my all purpose tree stand or walk around gun.
those loads are very accurate.
below picture is at 300 yards with hornady interlock 180 grain bullets.
that was this past weekend verifying some new gunworks brass And finding that sweet spot around
3030-3040 that the gun like. Gunworks brass was 18 grains avg heavier than WW brass and required 1 gr less powder.

The case size of the WSM series does not have the capacity of the 7rm or the 300rm. They are more suited to less than heavy for caliber bullets but the efficiency makes up for it, IMO. A 180gn bullet from a 300wsm will take most NA game with that twist rate and the Tikka accuracy is outstanding.

What dies (brand and type) do you use to load your 300 wsm and brass prep if any. Do you full length size or neck size. Bullet seating die etc

I too have heard from reliable sources that the Barnes Factory 165 TTSX VOR-TX is very accurate in Tikka T3s.

For sighting in I like Federal Fusion 180 AB. It should take you only two shots to get it sighted in and you can fine tune it from there.

For factory ammo I'd first try Federal Premium loaded with the 185 Berger Hybrid.

If I had a Tikka 300wsm and was reloading for it. I'd buy a long action bolt stop and Gen2 long action magazine. Both from mountain Tactical. Now the heavier bullets can be seated out further.

As a 300WSM is really a souped up 30:06 when used with light weight bullets, IMHO it doesn't make any sense to me to shoot anything under 180 gr with it. My Tika shoots Berger 210's VLD's at 1MOA all day long at 200 yds. It has plenty of bang so I bought the Limbsaver too. That big case takes a lot powder.
