Hammer Bullets are praised on this particular forum. Very seldom being mentioned in other forums.

It seems as if they get suggested by people who have never used them.

How many people hear have physically used hammer bullets to take multiple animals? I don't want to hear about your one animal. I want multiple animal experiences and pictures will be better.

So far I have taken 9 antelope with them, and my son used my rifles last year to take at least 3 more.

1 shot, 1 kill each.
As I have said, if an animal is hit by them they are going to die. Usually that's soon.
Never took a meat damage photo, but also never recovered a bullet as they always pass through. I have seen only 1 or 2 petal pieces recovered.

I have used them for hunting and was extremely pleased. I'm also very pleased with Nosler Accubonds, Hornady Interbonds (when you can get them), Swift Scirocco, Barnes and Swift A-frame. In fact if you could see my bullet storage shelves you would think I'm a person who can't make up his mind :) There's something from everyone's toy box
I guess if I was to pick one I'd say I have more loads with Accubonds than any other. I do intend to put in more time with the Hammers though as I was very pleased with both accuracy and terminal performance.

Part of it is the hammer guys are a sponsor on here. They seem to be pretty reasonable, nice, helpful guys. The members that use them can be annoying and oversell what they are and recommend them when they aren't even relevant to the topic. It is so frequent I have started rolling my eyes now every time I see them recommended.

I have been researching them trying to decide if they are worth the cost for me to try and if they fit my style of hunting. From what I gather the performance and accuracy are really good and consistent at ranges inside 600 yards. What they don't have are high BCs. In fact, in my research I noted several threads where people are saying the listed BCs are significantly over stated - they are probably not for me, but still doing research. Also, seems odd that they are so heavily recommended on a long range hunting site like this.

Steve at Hammer is VERY helpful and a lot of my clients use them and are very happy with performance on game as well as very accurate and east to tune.
I dont get much time to hunt now so have not personally killed anything with them.
I have worked with Steve for several clients who love them!

Wow, oversell is a bit aggressive.

I shot two animals with them this year. I'm sure if they could have picked their heads up they would have said they didn't like it.
They are not a long range hunting bullet - so on this site, yeah it seems to me like they are oversold...just my opinion based on my research. Also, the fact that the guys that use them will recommend them on a thread that is asking for experience on the ABLR vs the Berger etc, further supports my point.

I've used them the past 3 years and have taken 3 elk and 4 deer that I can think of without going to my notes and looking at which rifle/bow and bullet/arrow I shot each with. Each result has been near perfect for my expectations. Animals drop almost instantly to maybe 30-40 yards away. Most shots have been close but 250 was my furthest. They are extremely accurate and really are easy to load. I e worked up 4/5 rifles and bullet combos now and each was done in under 20 rounds with most in the 12-15 range. Very little meat damage but much more dramatic tissue and organ damage than traditional mono bullets which is why I started using them. I process my own meat and originally switched to mono when the etip s came out because I got tired of cutting out and throwing away bloodshot meat in excessive quantities.

Thank you for bringing up this topic. I have no problem with companies advertising and being successful but I have to say I find myself starting to move on as soon as I see Hammer mentioned in a post as it is becoming a bit annoying (only a CM is that good). I generally don't critique a product without a descent sample size so I will refrain. Recommend staying with jacketed LR designed hunting pills for anything over 400 yards.

I have.

I also think as many guys here to discuss hunting as much or more than long range shooting? BC is meaningful but is still a number in part of a formula. A few more clicks of the current or a couple of more limbs of the christmas tree.......Long range HUNTING.com. Lots of good threads here search hammer damage "photo heavy" I even caught one... Reported the weights of shank and petals in the other thread. Take it or leave it but here is a photo for you too.

This forum is great and full of supportive, helpful, kind old school real men. IMG_2344.JPG

I am a believer but don't want to push my beliefs. Just trying to help
