6.5 creedmoor to 270 wsm

I hear ya. It seems. Nowadays i'm fire-forming for everything i own. I have been very interested in the 270 wsm as well and almost bought one for my son. Figured we could save you some dough and use the same bolt, and find brass real easy.

Do we not fireform for all of our cartridges? The ackley may shoot factory ammo just fine. Then you can supercharge them when you get the chance. But hey man, whatever works for you. Love the 270 wsm as well
Hopefully when I get more time to invest in fireforming I can venture off into those cartridges. My brother has very good results using his 270 wsm.

Or, depending on how long in the tooth or the condition of your current 6.5CM barrel, after you have the bolt face opened up and a M16 type extractor installed, you could have your existing barrel rechambered to 6.5 PRC too.

I don't have personal experience with the 6.5 PRC? I pretty much settled on the 270 wsm because I seen how it performs on game.

Throw a 1:8 twist barrel on there and that 270 wsm will turn into a beast. Slinging 156 Hammers, 165 Matrix and 170 Bergers makes that cartridge really impressive and lethal at long ranges as well. Good luck on your build!

I had a standard bolt face opened to accommodate a magnum round. It was a small task for the gunsmith as was modifying the feed rails. As to the 270 WSM I had one for a few years and sold it to finance a NULA in .284. Love the rifle but should have chambered in 270 WSM again. Great cartridge IMO.

I really like the 270 wsm although I have read that I'm wrong for doing so on several different sites. It's a easy round to handload and very accurate. The big knock is the lack of bullet selection available but there are still plenty to choose from. Performance in the field is impressive , overall it's a sweet deal. If your going to change out it's not a bad way to go. I have A new Remington XCR that i picked up in 270 WSM that I'm going to work on , it will be my third one.

I've built 2 7-08ai rifles in the past year and would go another direction. Fun to shoot and the wife loves it, but the extra fireforming to me isn't worth it. I'd sell/trade your action for the correct one. Gunsmithing ain't cheap
