I have heard through various sources that VA turned blue for demographic reasons. And that may be a factor for the political landscape in VA right now. But one has to wonder if our side really did all it could to encourage fellow gun owners to get out and vote for candidates that will defend the Second Amendment. Unfortunately, Virginia gun owners are now dealing with the consequences.

Here are some of them:
SB 16 Assault firearms and certain firearm magazines; prohibiting sale, transport, etc., penalties.
Summary: The bill makes it a felony to own a semi-auto and a misdemeanor to have a magazine with a capacity of over ten rounds. Source: http://lis.virginia.gov/cgi-bin/legp604.exe?201+sum+SB16

SB 64 Paramilitary activities; penalty
Summary: This bill criminalizes training with a firearm. Some critics of the bill state that it will turn martial arts instructors into felons as well. The bill can be found here: https://legiscan.com/VA/text/SB64/id/2070814
Further analysis of the bill can be found at this link: https://gunsinthenews.com/virginia-...ruction-guns-magazines-self-defense-training/

Guns in the News also stated the definition of an "assault rifle" has also changed in Virginia to the following:
The legislation would also change what is considered an "assault firearm." Under the proposed definition, it would include any firearm that is capable of accepting a detachable magazine and one of the following characteristics:

  • a folding or telescoping stock
  • a pistol grip
  • a thumbhole stock
  • a second handgrip or a protruding grip that can be held by the non-trigger hand
  • a bayonet mount
  • a grenade launcher
  • a flare launcher
  • a silencer
  • a flash suppressor
  • a muzzle brake
  • a muzzle compensator
  • a threaded barrel capable of accepting a silencer, flash suppressor, a muzzle brake or a muzzle compensator, or,
  • any characteristic of like kind, which is left open to the individual to determine if they're in violation of the proposed law.
So a bolt action rifle with a detachable magazine + a muzzle break=an assault rifle in Virginia now. I have always said that the anti-gun side wants to ban ALL firearms.

This is just a small sampling of the bills that are being proposed right now. There are likely more and worse.

This could be your state next if you don't vote and get other gun owners to do the same.

Virginia has turned in to the DC Swamp. All of the "Salley's" are there now. Find your safe space and get over it. YOU let it happen.

it's the swamp. the state is controlled by richmond and DC. the rest of the state is red. i live in NC but i'm in southern VA all the time for work. those folks are red as can be. there's also been several articles about counties declaring themselves sanctuary cities.

and you are correct, safety and reducing gun deaths is not the mission of the democrats. complete disarmament is. they know they can't just take away the 2A, so they will chip away at it a little at a time. after each mass shooting there's some new accessory or gun or attachment that has to be outlawed for our safety.

The sanctuary counties is the only silver lining for this whole scenario. Especially that brave sheriff who promised to deputize all the adults in his county to protect their Second Amendment rights. This is good. It shows that the good citizens of the rural counties are willing to resist, and hopefully by all means necessary to protect their constitutional rights. I hope and pray they are successful in their undertaking.

They took their foot off the tyrants neck, put the crown back on his head, and now face the whip and and chain that he once stood with.

the thing that worries me is what happens to this country when the baby boomer generation is completely gone in 20-30 years. i'll do my best to raise my kids the right way but it's going to be a constant uphill battle of trying to undo the brainwashing that will be occurring at school everyday. i already see it in the kids shows my 3 year old watches.

The baby boomer generation caused a lot of this, imo. They took the morals in this country to a new low thanks to Woodstock, free love, etc. I've known many to become more conservative as they age (common trend), but the damage was done.

Raising your kids the right way is probably one of the best courses of action, in the long term, to fix the mess that we are in. Please keep doing that, and encourage your peers to do the same.

All my peers like, own, and shoot guns. I'm a millennial. All my peers are either millennials and the younger guys are Gen Z. I make it a habit to educate, train, and assist newcomers to the sport. Do you know what the first rifle my buddies new to shooting buy?? An AR15. Thats right. I was trained on single shot, air rifles and new guys are coming in with ARs. That's awesome. We need to encourage and mentor that passion.

I'm taking my 15 year old cousin on his first hunting trip tomorrow. I bought him a marlin XL7 from an awesome forum member here in .243 win. It's a Christmas present. He doesn't know it yet.

Now what do you think he is going to remember? Some soft, Beta teacher and even softer peers saying guns are bad or his cousin setting him up with his first rifle and a deer hunt?

It's a culture war, not a voting war. Educate, train, and empower people to use firearms. Screw politicians. If people know and respect firearms then the political issue will solve itself. Democrats will show their true colors and be pro 2A all of a sudden. These slim balls will do anything for a vote and to stay in power.

The reason we are in this mess is because a lot of gun owning someone's somewhere didn't teach their kids about firearms. Look to your left and right. We are to blame.

Also, the governor of VA is a closet racist who is trying to cover up his past. What better way to do that then to become famous for turning Va into the first southern "SAFE ACT" state.

"They" may have let it happen in Virginia, but we can't turn our backs on them. We must all do whatever we can to support the cause there and across our country. Otherwise, it will happen to all of us.

Our adversary is already trying the same thing in Georgia.

Look at what the sportsman's alliance is saying about SB 281
"SB 281 is a wakeup call for sportsmen and gun owners," said Bruce Tague vice president government affairs for Sportsmen's Alliance. "Whether you are a duck hunter, deer hunter or trap shooter, it doesn't matter. This bill unjustly penalizes law-abiding hunters, sport shooters and gun owners."

If things continue like this Georgia may be the next impending #boogaloo state like VA.
