Anybody try the Cabella's Covenant scopes.

As the title says have any of you tried the Cabella's Covenant scopes. Asking because I just picked up Covenant 5 in 5x25-56 SFP. I got it for 359 at Bass Pro Shop here in canada so 360 dollars is cheap. The scope seems to have good features and crisp turrets and fairly clear. I have not been out to shoot with it yet. Just wondering if others have tried this line of scope and your thoughts.

Well I took the scope out today to get the gun on the paper. It was a cloudy day almost to fog and snowing lightly. In these conditions and 12 power the scope appears to be quite clear and crisp my eyes are not the best but I was fairly impressed with this scope in these conditions. The focus on the eye piece did its job very well and the parallax seems good too. The zero stop is very easy to use and work with better set up than my Burris and Ziess I'd say. If it warms up some I will give it a better test as 3 shots is not very many but it seemed to adjust as much as I thought it should. Would still like to hear from others and their opinions.

Took the Covenant out again yesterday day and fiddled a little more with it. Here is what I discovered at 25 power scope is not so clear but still very usable. The parallax has to be really tuned on the higher powers or the scope is blurry. The turrets seem to move the bullet impact to what I assumed they should in my conversion of inches to Mils adjustment. Once dialed the bullet impact did not move as I fired rounds so they did not have to settle in as some less expensive scopes do. My next project will be to try it on my gong at distance and see how well it will dial.

i my Covanent out this afternoon to see how it dialed. Now I only got to 550yds but it seemed pretty preceise. Using my 270 WSM shooting the Hornady 145 ELDX at 3145fps. The rifle was a 1/2 inch high at 100yds so I was hitting a little high on my shots. At 550 BC calculator said I needed 2.38 Mils up and my first shot hit the 10inch gong but at the top as I said high. I dialed from zeroed 100 and started at 250. Then I moved to 400 and finally to 550 never got a chance to go back down as I ran out of light.
Another thingI noticed is that the dot in the reticle is very fine and should be illuminated for low light. The scope did seem plenty clear today but I only got to 16 power not 25.
So far for the price this is proving to be a decent scope to start out with longer range shooting. As I said at the start it was only 350 Canadian which from what I can figure would cost my nieghbors to the south around 160 or so.
