Hello I just picked up my first custom built bolt gun for coyote hunting. Proof research 243 barrel, manners eh1 carbon fiber stock, surgeon action. I'm having a tough time picking out a piece of glass to put on it. I have a few scopes I'm considering all in. The 3-15/18 range. I'm really looking into the vx6hd 3-18x44 but also would consider a nxs 3-15 and I found a smoking deal on a Swarovski v6 3-18x50. Anyone have any recomendations?

I second the NX8 4-32. I have 2 of them and love them. It's a step above the nxs and not quite an atacr

I have 2 Leupold 5HD 3x15 scopes. Leupold's service I warranty have made me A devout customer. You can spend more but I don't think you get more. I like the Boone & Crockett reticle. Very clean & simple.

Frank Galli says determine your max price point, then choose the reticle you like the best. It seems like you get what you pay for these days. Competition between manufacturers is fierce. I recently went with a SHV. Perfect? No. Good for my $$ available? Yes.

A good 3-9 would be hard to beat. 10x on he top end would be plenty in whatever brand you like. I have used the Zeiss,Bushnell Elite 4200's and Swaro's,Trijicon,Leupold,Weaver and limited use of Minox and all are good choices in that power range.I have been wanting to try Vortex but have not gotten one yet.

I have a 3-15x56 VX5HD on my designated coyote gun (6mm creed). It has an awesome field of view for those dogs that are charging in. Its the best low light scope I have ever seen...

I would look at a march 3-24×52 if you want great glass in a light weight optic, or if you want to spend less, the Burris xtr3 3-18 would be my top pick in the middle of the road price range.
