If you want to shoot bullets like the 195 Berger, yes.
8-8.5 is better

Thanks. Many of my buddies have tried the Bergers on game and don't like the way they perform and won't use them again. I've never tried them but am skeptical. I want a bullet that will perform well up close but do well if I run into a longer shot opportunity.

gotcha! 9 twist should be good for most of those.

Would I see much of an increase in speed on the 195's with a 28 inch barrel?

Probably 25-50fps/inch

Had any one shot the 143 hammers out of the 7max and what kinda velocity ? Thinking about a light weight build for the 143 hammers. If I can get the speed up. Or just stick with the 180gr.

anyone shooting a 7max with a 20-22" barrel?

Can't answer your question above, but getting really excited for my build with HCA, which should be kicking off by the end of the month. Using Archimedes Long Action, manners EH1 (moss) w/ 24-26" CF barrel, throated for 180-195 EOLs......looking to push the 195 at 3050 ft/sec.

HCA has done my last couple... 7SS and a 338 max that I should see very soon.

I used a 26" barrel and a long drop tube to get 3050', but,..........

I think your hopes and dreams are a little high. If you want 3050 with a 195 build a 28 Nosler. 2950 I could see. Not 3050. 195's are over rated anyways. Shoot 180's or 184's.

The new 190 hybrid that was just released looks interesting. The bearing surface is longer than 195 but has just slightly less BC. My 7max should be done within a month or so. I'm trying to pick projectiles. 180eldm from 8 twist @ 3000 fps has great ballistics......decision decision!

I shot the 180 eldm's for some time. I moved on to Berger 184's. The 180 Berger are a superior bullet IMO
