hello friends, Ms. Clause asked me what i would like for Christmas. I need a chrono that i can use at my local indoor range for load development. Any reason i should not have her grab this for me? None of my current barrels are larger than 1 inch in diameter. Thanx

I completely ignored the internet gurus and the mfr and strap mine onto my suppressor all the time, so dont be fooled by the 1" thing. You should like it pretty well. I got the adapter to be able to connect to my phone, tried on 4 different phones and a couple tablets, none worked. So I just sit there with pen and paper and take notes as I shoot. No big deal... but I think the V3 is supposed to have a much better user interface

Bought a sporter this summer very happy with it. Used on three rifles and all shot 10" higher with magneto attached. Kinda odd, but was repeatable. It works great for its intended purpose

I just picked one up this month. Only used it once, but am pleased. I had to change the sensitivity setting to pick up the AR, but that was easy. One thing I found interesting is my 162a-max load in the 7-08 did not change poi at all, but the 150g swift load changed poi up 4". Same rifle spotter barrel. AR did not change poi.

Mine works for what it was intended for very well. But it does impact accuracy when attached so you really can't work up a load and check ES,SD Vel at the same time.

Same here. Have had the sporter since they came out. I modified the crap out of mine tho. I use a modified wiser mount to keep it off the barrel. I had issues with the large brakes and suppressor due to the design of the sporter but I just modify it. On another note, I also have the adapter to send the data to my phone and it works flawlessly for me. You need the app uploaded to the phone but I love the system overall.

I would be concerned with how this hanging on the end of the barrel will effect barrel harmonics and degrade accuracy, unless accuracy is not an issue, and finding velocity is the only goal. Personally I like the target to show good consistent grouping in addition to recording velocities on the target.

My buddy has the V3 and it is really nice. I will upgrade when I can afford it. For now the Sporter does everything I need it to do. I just use mine to find a node my rifle likes and then verfiy velocity after I have worked a load up. My POI is about 4-5 inches higher with it attached to my barrel.
