I have a mauser m18 in 6.5 prc and I am looking to see what others loads look like. This rifle was given to me from a friend because it seems to run slow, he could get published factory fps but had to go well over book max with the few powders used. This will be a hunting rifle all I don't need to not rod it but would be nice to make it worth it.

I believe his load with retumbo was 2720 fps max book load, 147 eld-m and hornady brass. So after cleaning the bore good from the 200 rounds out through it, I am about to state working up loads so a baseline what others use will help. I don't have much reason to use anything over 140 grains, tho I may try some heavier bullets down the road.

For powders I'll get some h1000 retumbo and RL25 and if I can find some RL26, are there any others I should get?

Mine is still in the break in stage but I'll start w/ VV-N565 and 147ELD-Ms. 565 is available right now at Grafs and Powder Valley. RL26 looks good too which I also have.

RL-23, should be good if you have wide temperature swings to your shooting, as it is one of the most stable powders. It will not give quite the velocity of RL-26, but better stability.

Ya temp stable is needed I've hunted in 10° and 70+ in the same week, temperature can get funny here in New York.

Having great success with a heavy load of H1000 and 143 eldx. Played with primers but went back to 210Ms. Just over 3000 fps out of a 24" 5 Grove barrel

I'm limited on my H1000 stash so I've been using H4831SC with good success. With the 156 EOL and 120 Etip at least. Still want to test 143 ELDX and 142 ABLR with this powder as well.

I was given 50 147 eld-m to try out. I have some cheap speers coming to try. Looks like I'll try retumbo or h1000 the others are hard to find here.

Anyone here have the mauser m18?
