I'm looking for a 30 cal 10 twist blank to launch 190-210 VLD type bullets in 300 WSM.

I'm a bit torn between a Rock Creek 5R and a Kreiger 4 groove.....any advice?

Both are Rem Varmint, 10 twist, SS barrels....My plan is to send to SSS since they have a good rep for Savage pre-fit accuracy.

The build is a Savage 12BVSS 300 WSM going into an MDT chassis, probably a Jard Trigger, one of Nate's muzzle brakes, haven't decided to true and time yet, or not. Looking for sub-1/2" groups at 100, but would really like to see best possible in a chassis hunting rifle.

I'm currently running a Krieger 30" 4groove 9t with 215 hybrids and its working great. I was running a 10t 5r 28" Rock Creek before and it also worked well with the 215s. Either will work good for the 210s. Although I'd suggest trying the 215s as they preform well on game and the extra bc doesn't hurt. I will say that in my experience the 4 groove barrels have been a little less finicky during load development.

had several of the top barrel makers out their. Bartlein, hart, Krieger and some are shooter out of the gate and some require a little work to dial in.
Currently have a hawk hill in the works. so with that being said I've had really good luck with benchmark. Maybe I was just lucky but I got one 6 years ago and had benchmark themselves chambered it on an old Ruger m77 action. Now it may not look like a prom date but I'm telling you it's a shooter. It out shoots me and it don't matter I swear what I shoot it will group.
for a magnum 7mm it Is very accurate. 1/4 to 1/2 all day. I've got to the point I don't shoot it because I'm afraid I want find another like it. i just hunt with it. No extra playing with that gun on the range.
Any way they are good ones and some not so good. one piece of advice- a good smith with a good new cut reamer make a big difference. Most barrels that are high grade are for the most part top of the line.
any barrel I have made I buy a reamer. JGS reamers or Manson

I have a 28" 1:10" Rock Creek "Sendero" spiral fluted on my .300RUM. It is a tack driver.
I have shot several Kreigers, and all shot very well too.
Also look at Bartlein. I have 3 of them. Freaking amazing barrels too.
Then there is Proof CF.....I have 5 of them too.

I've tried PAC-Nor, Benchmark and Bartlien and the Bartlien's are hands down my favorite. The only reason I haven't tried others is due to how impressed I've been with the Bartlien. I'm on my 4th one and they have ALL been sub half shooters and easy to clean.
Currently running a 10 twist in my 300WM and it's lights out with the 215 Hybrid and the 200 ELD-X.

^^^ What he said.

I'm keeping my oal's relatively short due to my mag length....Either ABLR in 190 or 210....or possibly 200 AB.
