Been thinking about the .325 WSM

I just had a 8mm Rem. Mag. built with a 26" Krieger barrel with Remington Sendero contour. Muzzle break takes the bite out of it and while the bullet selection may not be as large as some calibers there is enough to find one that works. There are a number of other cartridges that could do the same thing but I have a soft spot for the oddballs.

I have a 325 wsm that I bought from a buddy (also a member on here) it's a stainless X bolt. I don't even know why I bought it other than it appealed to me at the time. It sat in my safe for a long time. Finally this spring I decided to go on a spring bear hunt in Canada. I wanted something light weigh, simple and plenty of thump. So I grabbed the 325, threw a NF SHV on it and built a load.. shoots great! It piled up my 6.5' bear then a week later I shot another bear with it here in wyoming.. it's an odd ball but a pretty cool rifle

I've been in a big discussion about the .325 WSM on another forum. I wish I had never sold my Savage 14 325. It really was a fun caliber to play with. I've never thought about it much, but what about building a .325 WSM with a 28" Sendero contour barrel. Maybe have it setup with some free-bore ?

I know bullet selection is kind of scarce, but has it been done? Would it really be worth it? My father in law has a .308 Remington 783. I could use it as a donor if the bolt face could be opened up.

The .325 WSM is a very fine cartridge indeed if one is was going for a little more distance I'd probably stay with the .325 WSM but, If I wanted something a little closer in with bone-breaking punch I think I'd consider the .350 Rem Mag... a way overlooked cartridge for near all practical hunting ranges. Just my 0.02 good luck

Good or bad info on win 70 coyote light? I don't even know if I need 325 wsm but price tells me different.
Those are very nice rifles, usually very accurate, and the triggers aren't half bad!

Recoil figures tells me I prefer the .325 over the .338.

The recoil on my 325 was a pussycat beside my .338 WM in the boat paddle stock.

I too like to go against the crowds. That's why I like the Ruger Paddle stocks, and weird calibers.

I like the little 6.5 and 350 RM's. They are too often forgotten. A fella sent me a wildcat cartridge he made from the 6.5. It's a 6mm-6.5RM

Model 70 Ultimate Shadow Hunter SS MOBUI camo.jpg

Here's my model 70 Ultimate Shadow Hunter SS in 325wsm. Fit and finish is top shelf. I load the 200gn Accubonds, 195gn Interlocks and 180gn GMX. They put an excellent recoil pad on these so recoil is a non-issue. This caliber is pretty efficient as noted by more than a few reloading data sources.

Nice to hear a good about rifle. I just got burn on rem 700 AWR, now I have cabelas GC to spend and they still have new coyote lite 325 wsm for 600$. guess I will give a try, and pick one up next week.

I don't reload, I will have to try few factory loads.

For that price, it would be hard to pass up. I'm not sure I'd want it if I didn't handload. I haven't had mine in years, but there wasn't that many factory loads for it. You will miss out on a lot it has to offer, but if I wanted it, I wouldn't let that stop me. Even the Winchester 220gr Power Points were great on deer. I just prefer Accubonds.

Nosler and double tap have few loads too. And Winchester step up in the game offering accubonds.
