Your post made me think of this. I have found over just the past few years and after many of reloading, that many rifles, if not most, prefer one weight class of bullet over another in terms of ease of dialing in a load for. My Tikka T3 Lite in 300wsm prefers 175-180gn class bullets over 165. My T3 in .308 goes the other way and prefers 150gn over 165gn. My Winchester 70 in 7wsm prefers 160-175gn over 140-150gn. This realization has simplified my reloading.

I would try the 165 Federal trophy Bonded Tip and the 175 federal TLR as a starting point if they are readily available in Bass pro , Cabella's or like stores . They shoot very well out of my 06 , hold tight MOA out to 600 , which is the otter limits of my self imposed limit of 650 at there speeds

I keep 3, 20 round boxes in my travel alumn gun case 1 for 30-06 , 1 for 30 cal Patriot , 1 for the 30 cal Warbird for safety sake as I am old and normally travel with 2 rifles , the other thing that stays in my travel clothes bag is 3 rolls of Gorilla tape or duct tape . LOL
And your post made me think of this...Have 2 Tikka T3 lites in 300wsm with the slow 1:11 twist. Shoots 165's and 180's equally well. About to have 1 rebarreled with faster twist proof. Bought some factory Hornady Precision Hunter 200 ELD-x for it and shot it in my "slow" twist Tiikka one last time and it put 3 shots you could cover with a quarter at 300 yards. Makes no sense but can't argue with results.
To the op.. I've worried about the same thing as to factory Ammo for the 300wsm. It was scarce there for a while and not sure if its the Creedmoor craze or what with the short action stuff but availability has increased. Most common factory round I see is the Remington green and yellow and the Winchester black box. Best round? Depends on the animal you are wanting to use it in but I would probably vote the Vortex 165 covers most bases and accurate.

I have a Mod 70 in .300 WSM. 10"Twist. The most accurate factory loads I have tried recently is the Winchester Expedition 190 Gr. Nosler 190 Gr LRAB. The best is the new Federal Edge LRT 200 Gr. It shot sub MOA groups at 100 yds. The drop table on the box was very accurate and the terminal performance on an elk I killed last year was outstanding. I was finally able to purchase some bullets to reload and they are even more accurate. IMO this bullet is one of the best elk loads available today. I want a bullet that will expand reliably at long range and stay together for a through and through shot even when a bone is struck. I always try for a heart/lung shot, but at longer ranges an errant wind can push your bullet into the shoulder, this bullet will still make it into the chest cavity.
The elusive triple post! I have seen doubles, but only ever heard rumors of a triple. Thank you!

I've had a M70 in 300 WSM since it's introduction. While I have had excellent results reloading Barnes Triple shocks 180's Ive also found that Win.silver box 180's do quite well out to 500 yards.
