Best .300 WSM O.T.C ammo?

That's tough- I think the only box store stuff you'll find anywhere will be winchester silver box or federal fusion. Nosler, Barnes, and the higher end federal seems spotty to me-- be tough to guarantee what you could find.

I think you are on the right track with running a 300wsm because you can find that cartridge anywhere.

But if it's an emergency (ammo didn't arrive with gun or whatever) I would just buy what you can find in 300wsm and you'll have to reconfirm zero anyways so I wouldn't really worry about an exact specific round for 'emergency' ammo.

Lots of big stores near me. Two different Sportsmans warehouse, Scheels, basspro shop and Cabela's. I checked all of those store last fall and they were either sold out or only had a few boxes left with ~80% sold out.

Kind of weird cause the CA lead free restriction is strictly enforced here. Would prefer to not buy any current 300 wsm leadfree otc. Hammer hunter and CEB raptor bullets are much better for hunting.

I'd say:
1) Winchester Expedition Big Game with the 180gn Accubond CT
2) Federal Fusion in 165 or 180gn. This ammo is reasonably priced but I would not thumb my nose at this ammo, due to the accuracy. Too many great reviews as well as personal experience.

I pray to god I never forget the good stuff but we all know how our mind can drift. I hunt in east Texas and in deep south Texas, use a custom .308 in East and going to try the new Savage 110 .300 wsm wood stock 24" barrel in south

On a side note, since the Savage WSMs only hold 2 rounds in the the magazine... DarkEagle Customs makes a really nice 5 round 300 WSM magazine that fits the Savage bottom metal perfectly. The top part of the magazine is the standard factory metal style and the bottom is really nice aluminum. I have one and it works great.
they don't list the WSM on their site but on another thread a guy said he ordered one 2 months ago and they had a 2 week lead time.

Don't use federal powershoks!

I got 3 boxes of 20 from my local GS, took them home & opened them & the projectiles were all pitted & discoloured so I took them back & swapped them.

The next 3 boxes looked ok so went off to the range to break in my new rifle, 1st round wouldn't even chamber, next one yes then the following one no.
Out of 60 rounds 28 would not chamber at all, measured them all to the ogive & datum & they were all 3 thou over SAAMI specs.
Not happy, especially at the price of these here is Aus which was $70 for 20!
The Vitashoks were available but they were $100 for 20, that's crazy!

So I had hoped to use the cases to reload(used feds for other cartridges before) and after prepping them I started to prime them & the primers went in with almost no resistance with worried me compared to the new Norma brass I had acquired.
Basically I binned them & had to by more new Norma @ $2 each!!

Anyway though the QC was very poor from federal in this case.

Iknow you guys have a lot more options & way better pricing over there

Not a big fan of factory loads. However most of us can not resist an occasional box for burning new scope install or for our zombie war stash. Noslers no brainer if you can score a deal and actually been impressed with the cheap blue Federal Power.Shok .
