I know they're not one of the 26" powder burning beasts that most associate with LRH, but Here in South Carolina 300 yards is pretty much our max range for game. Lately I've gotten into shorter barreled rifles. For me, that's anything 20" or less. After my 18" 308 shooting several .25" or less groups, my 19" 6.5Creedmoor came along. Not being new to either caliber, I have several loads for both on hand. The 308, built by Jaime Ogburn, groups poorly with 150gr Federal Blue box at an avg of .5" 3 shot groups and best with 165gr Trophy Bonded Coppers with an average of .25", GMM are just boringly consistent.
That leads me to my 6.5C.
Built by. Gradous rifles, it proved to be finicky. The rifle did not like ELDM or ELDX at all. Most groups were averaging 3/4-1". I spoke to everyone I could think of in my list of ballisticians, engineers, reloaders etc, everyone was stumped.
On the advice of a friend, I removed the muzzle brake and tried 140 grain accubonds. The first group is pictured below.
I've never been more frustrated by a rifle in my life! I've also never put together an order for Nosler bullets, but here we are! Order gets placed Tuesday.
I've included pics of the 308 (first) and 6.5 (second)
Anyone else run short barrels?

20" 308 win and Knight Disc Extreme at 20". Ordered a new barrel and cut it off too.
I'm in Virginia, so not much long range action either. Short barrels are great in the woods.

Thar creed is a really sharp looking rifle. I've been into the shorts lately, having a 21" 300 win built now.

I mean, if you're gonna be sarcastic, you might as well do it right! But yeah, that specific rifle will be with me until I'm dead and gone. Plus it's a 308, so it's a real forever gun.
I hear you. I have a 6br that is "capable" of one holers except when the stock nut is loose. Im pretty thrilled when i get .5 moa from my average stuff. I spend a lot chasing those one holers though.
