You trying to tell us the Weatherby six lug action is not a long action? Who would have guessed?
By Weatherby standards no, I suppose it's their shorter or standard length action. Most other companies and the majority of shooters would say it is a long action though.
I don't think Weatherby even uses the short or long designations for their actions, just standard and magnum.

I don't think Weatherby even makes a SA MkV do they? The 9 lug MkV is a LA and is the 6 lug MkV more of a medium length or are they both the same length??
I don't normally laugh at computers but I made an exception in this case!

I'm not one to scoff at new market offerings, and this is interesting coming from Weatherby - a little different from their other stuff. But I'll stick with the 6.5 PRC since it can all but match the velocity in a short action.

Also, it is hard to beat RWS Brass in the Sherman. It is far stronger than Norma brass.
Agreed, but GETTING 270 RWS brass has been almost impossible these last two years...
I'm with you Milepost...I've spent "at least" the last 2 years just lurking around RWS brass sources. I found some awhile back from Huntingtons in 7x57, but still no .270. I can quite "pull the trigger" on the 6.5 Sherman as of yet, and no RWS brass is one of a few major reasons. It would be so nice to rebarrel to the RPM and have some factory components available..
RWS brass is good, but I wouldn't let it be the deciding factor when building a gun.

Has anyone seen any of the spec on the reamers as to how the cartridge is throated? From there website they only loaded ammo is the 140 bullets but I wonder if it will work just ok or pretty well with the new 156 Bergers.

My Pac-Nor 6.5 is suppose to be 8"twist and wont stabilize Hammer Hunter 124 grainers. If it is truly an 8" twist then there is no way the 8" twist Weatherby will work with a 156 Berger. On the other hand if Pac-Nor messed up, it would be the third time.

Interesting - my Browning HC LR rifle has been shooting the 124 Hammers into rather small groups at 400 yds. The 8" twist bbl seems to work for the Hammers to at least that distance.
I had a 7" twist .270 barrel from K&P that's like that. The .277 168gr Hammers shoot well from a different rifle with a 7" twist, but keyhole in mine. Of course, I don't believe it's an actual 7" twist barrel despite having sent it back to get checked. The old cleaning rod trick isn't a perfect way to measure twist, but I've never seen it be off by a full 1"!
