My brother has a savage .243 like yours and it shoots grate, he has had it for years and has shot a lot of whitetails with it.
It's funny how some rifles shot and some don't.

I have one a Model 110C, I bought over 35 years ago in 30-06, this is before the accu-trigger, but still accurate.

I have 2 savage 110, and a 116 also. One has been rebarreld to another caliber. Always able to get at least 1/2 inch moa without mucheffort. The one rebarreld from to 280ai is the most accurate rifle i own.

Do Stevens 200s count??

Get a 110. You won't be disappointed

That's pretty much the same set up as the rifle I was looking at. Big difference in bottom bolt release, but I think it uses the same factory detach mag. What the longest COAL can you seat out with the factory mags? I take it the factory stock even with the aluminum bedding block wasn't stiff enough? TIA

I have owned a few 110's and have been quite pleased with the performance and reliability. They all produced .5MOA or better Including cold bore shot. My 6.5x284 in particular owned for about 9 years has been exceptional. With over 1000 rounds and no degradation in accuracy or the throat, I recently self-installed a Criterion pre-fit that I am also quite very happy with. Shown: original stick rifle/barrel performance, and new Criterion with upgraded MPA light chassis.

The 300wm has the hinged floor plate. I single feed it. I didn't bother with trying to fit the Berger Hybrids in the internal magazine.
I prefer a vertical pistol grip over the traditional sloping grip and my LOP 14.25". I never shot it in the factory stock. I bought it with the original accu-stock that comes with the Karsten style cheekrest.

I forgot that the LR had the hinged floorplate. So what's your COAL with the 215gr Hybrids?

The 338 Lapua has the detachable box magazine
My cartridges are approximately 91.4mm if I recall correctly.

Put a Boyd's stock and a trigger on a friends 110 30-06 the other day. Then shot a few different factory loads through it. Lellier shot the best.

I have several savages myself, they all shoot very well with hand loads.

35 Whelen, I never cease to be amazed at how two nearly identical rifles can shoot so differently. Nearly the exact same set up and one will shoot the lite bullets and the other likes the heavy weights, even with the same twist. I bought a .357 Maximum barrel for my Contender and was warned by several people the they really like the 180 & 200 gr. bullets and not to bother with anything under 158. So being the contrary old fart I was (I'm a contrary older fart now), I immediately tried some 110 and 125 gr bullets... which shot bug holes at 100 yds! I also tried the heavy bullets, which were decent but nothing like the 125's, which were leaving the barrel at 2600 fps! What they did to those poor Tucson jack rabbits probably should have been illegal! Being completely serious, the local vultures knew my truck and used to follow me when I went out bunny killing (it wasn't really hunting), knowing there would soon be a free lunch hanging off the mesquite trees! Oh yum, bunny guts... what a way to make a living!

I started out with savage factory rifles. They all seem to shoot well!

Now I mostly just use them for the action and screw on an aftermarket barrel. I truly love being able to swap bolt faces, adjust firing pin protrusions, play with trigger weights, and thread on whatever barrel I want.

Yes, I know you can do that with lots of other rifles now... I guess the bolt face swap is the big advantage.

The one thing I don't love about them is how heavy the bolt lift is... but that's easy to look past in the grand scope of things.

Or you can fix/address that with a lift kit or modifications. I have done all of mine with excellent results and 1 finger lift.

I just bought the first Savage I've ever owned, a High Country in 6.5CM. It shoots factory Hornady 140gr HP's reasonably well, but I haven't had much trigger or any reloading time with it yet (too hot for much shooting just yet in Texas). So far I'm happy with the gun as a dedicated suppressor host, can't wait for it to show me what it's capable of with handloads.
