Weatherby's New 6.5 RPM

morning, if a cartridge can top the 257STW with speed and
accuracy, the cartridge will b a very good barrel burner.
I have one on a sako action. pure speed. justme gbot tum

I think the case is going to be a big winner . As long as brass is easy too get and not priced out of contention. I always wanted a long action 284 case. The reg 284 x6.5 will already do 3050 with a 140. This should easily do 3200-3300. But I like the idea of a 7mm rpm. Would be a meaner 280AI. Can't wait to see this play out.

Just saying but just about everything you need to do with a bullet is already covered. But sometimes you want to get there a different way. I personally hunt with a 6.5saum. It won't do anything a 264winchester can't already do. And if you throat a 264 win mag out and use a bore rider reamer to do it it's a very capable cartridge. Easy beats my 6.5 Saum. I'm not a stickler on long and short actions. 1/2 inch and 2 ounces is not a big deal to me. So basically build the 30 rpm if that is what keeps you interested. If I had been loading my first 30-06 for 30+ years I would be bored to death. Still would have been able to kill 90% of the game with it too. Some people want simple out of the box and factory ammo. Some want crazy extremes of that. That's what makes this sport so nice. Do what you want and let her rip. Shep

The one on the left is a 7 Mag with the belt turned off. The one on the right is a 9.3X64 Brenneke. Both are necked to 6.5 with the Weatherby radii added for my optical pleasure. This is the case I would like to use for the .30 wildcat since I have over 100 already.

Looks like you're in luck, ptg already has a couple wild cats ready to roll.

They did with with the nos 6.5 also. Had all of them before nos did. That case with the double radious looks nice. I did the 6.5 257wby already. I love the length of the case and how long the neck is. I might be doing a bunch of rpms now.

I don't do business with him anymore. Neither do the local 'smiths. He messed up the reamer three times on the first job he did for me. I checked with a couple locals and they had the same experience.

I really like the longer neck on the RPM.

I can't think of any good reason they did this one... certainly won't outrun their own 6.5/300? Like taking a step backwards..... imo

It fits their standard long action and not their magnum action, which is heavier that the standard long action. They also did this to make a cartridge more potent than the 6.5 Creedmoor, but not as hot as their 6.5x300 and still function in a standard long action.

It's either a standard or long action. Standard fits a .30-06 and a long action fits a .300 H&H. You can't fit a .300 H&H into a .30-06 action.

Dude, get off this long action kick. Multiple people have corrected you. Weatherby has a "magnum" long action and a "standard" long action. My Remington "long actions" will comfortably fit, feed, and handle all of the H&H cartridges and derivatives of them. In 1945 most "long actions" could only handle .30-06 cartridges. It's now 2019 where most "long actions" can handle H&H cartridges. If you're not going to answer people's questions, then don't continue repeating yourself.
