I bought a 6.5 PRC recently and got it out to the range yesterday to shoot a little with some precision hunter ammo. I only shot a box through it... after zeroing, I shot two sub 3/4 moa 100 yard groups and then launched the last 5 down range at 500 yards to validate my velocity and put them all in a 3" group. Looks like I am getting 3000 FPS out of a 26" barrel. I went and picked up 3 more boxes from the same lot.

I am super impressed and will probably forego handloads for the time being. I am headed out after antelope, elk and mule deer in a couple weeks and plan on taking this one rifle for all 3 hunts. Just wondering what everybody else experience has been with this ammo?

Old thread I know but I picked up 2 boxes at LGS. I've got some handloads worked up but I can use the factory Hornady brass and if it shoots tight I'll hunt with it.

My 6.5 PRC shoots the Hornady factory ammo (both the 143 and 147) so well I've decided not to handload for it at this time. Just bought a couple cases of ammo and I'm set for a while...
I have to agree. I've got 3 6.5 PRC rifles. A Browning Hells Canyon Speed 24", Browning Hells Canyon 26" and a Savage 110 Ultralight with 24" Proof Research Carbon Fiber Barrel. They all shoot the Hornady Performance ammo with great groups. I've harvested 2 white-tails and a Red Stag with the the Hells Canyon Speed. Also shot a Red Stag with the Hells Canyon 26". All animals were DRT. White-tails were at 100 and 450 yards. The Red Stags were at 175 and 225 yds. I've been really happy and impressed with the terminal performance of the 143 ELD-X Hunters.
