Stole This Rifle...Had To Share

First Post To The Forum!

I was in Wally World over the weekend and toured the gun rack, as usual. I noticed this ADL in 7mm Rem Mag with a "discount" tag on it, marked down from $379 to $299. I asked the guy behind the counter about layaway plans, then he said, "wait a minute, I think that one got marked down further." He hit it with his price gun while I waited anxiously. The price made my jaw drop! He said, "it's half price, $184." Needless to say, I whipped out the credit card, and it's now mine!
Already ordered a Boyd's At-One stock and the Athlon Ares 4.5-27 that's on sale at Midway. Looking for more suggestions from you forum guys. This will be a 300-400 yard whitetail rig. Yes, I reload.

Not to steal your thunder, Bro, but I had a similar experience about 15 years ago when a friend told me about a place going out of business and had Remington .300 WinMag on sale.
Long story short, I hauled tail after work and bought the Sendero for ~ $285.00 NIB!!
Installed a NightForce scope on it (that cost easily 4X as much) and with my handloads it turned out to be a tack driver of 5 shots into 3/8" at 100 yards and kept (keeps) all rounds in an 8" gong at 1,200 yards when I do MY part.
Darned thing is HEAVY but for cross-canyon (or time zones, HAH!) it'll darned sure do the job!
Congrats on your lucky find. Sometimes you find THEM and sometimes they find YOU!
Enjoy and Happy Hunting!!

Wal mart is doing what Dick's did a couple of years back . They are unloading their guns and going to stop selling guns . They say it's due to all of the mass shootings taking place in the U.S. .

Stupid of them but they have to go where the market drives them, sad to say. With any luck, they'll have DEEP discounts on sales in the near future.
My only concern is that "some" brick and mortar gun stores "might" take advantage of the situation and figure that without the discounted store prices, WE will be forced to go to the only "watering hole" in the desert, so to speak, and increase THEIR prices to take advantage of the situation. Hopefully not but time will tell.
Maybe they'll understand that we WANT to support the hometown businesses but we can, in most cases, shop on line and cut them out of the equation altogether if they want to get snooty.
Otherwise we have to deal with the situation the best we can.

there's only one wally world near me that sells guns, but i'm going tonight to see what they got! that's a steal! i love a long action for the safe for a future build.

I too have heard that Chinamart is talking of no longer selling guns. I know for sure they are discontinuing sell short barreled firearm ammo is what the press release I read said. Pistols and ars mainly. But I have one question about that. Not wanting to steal from this thread on the good price on the gun .
Let's say you have an " ar" that's not got a bump stock and hasn't been tinkered with to empty the magazine with one trigger pull. You still have to pull the trigger 30 times to shoot 30 rounds. Where as take a short barreled shotgun with 00 or 000 buck shoot 3-4 times and you've sent the same number of projectiles into the air spreading out at a fast rate .
With that being said Walmart would be better off to either sell everything like they been doing or completely quit sell guns and ammo . One way or the other.
I'd much rather prefer to go to the local gun shop than them in the first place . Yeah you may pay a touch more but would you rather give your money to mr smith or the Chinese

Tony,
You're not alone my friend. I had a similar experience with a Remington 700 ADL in 7mm Rem Mag on 7/31/19. It had a clearance tag on it...$299. I asked the department mgr about Lay-a-way. She told me that I could put it on lay-a-way and in 2 more weeks the price would drop again and since it would still be in "store inventory," it would receive the clearance mark-down just as if it were still in the display case. So I did the law-a-way, had to put up 50% down pmt. I waited until 2 days before the law-a-way was up and went back to sporting goods. I saw the same department mgr, and the inventory sticker was still in the rotary display case. She scanned it and then told me that it had received it's final mark-down.....and voila....it was down to $184! I took it home that day and I'm now working on floating the barrel and lapping the factory mounted scope. OH YES....it came with a no-frills-no-name-scope AND the new (ultra-smooth) X-Mark Pro trigger set for 3.5lbs....that thing really "breaks like glass" as Remington states...super nice! I'm going to see how good the scope performs after I lapp the rings and finish a couple of other "long-range" upgrades to it. Just so everyone knows, Walmart has "Holiday Lay-A-Way" from 8/31 - 12/09 for toys, electronics, etc. However, a little known Wally World fact is that YOU CAN put firearms on law-a-way ALL YEAR LONG there with 50% down (at least here in GA), they just don't advertise it at all. They also have a 700 ADL in .308 for $254.00...synthetic stock w/no-name-scope.....and that's the regular price. Going to pick that up Friday, can't beat that price anywhere!

Don't give the nitwits any ideas about the larger number of projo's that can be launched faster and just as devastating.
Next thing you know, shotguns will be on the chopping block, too.
