did you check what it weighed before you calibrated the scale ? I'm wondering if the scale was off any . thanks Jim

Actually, I did check the weight before calibration. It registered 100.002g BEFORE calibration sequence. The scale manual recommended calibrating it upon initial set-up which I couldn't do for lack of a calibration weight at the time.
During calibration sequence I selected 100g for the target weight, zero'd the pan, placed the weight on the pan and put all breeze screens and the top on the scale and let it sit for 3 minutes to "equalize" and then hit "print". Weight registered 100.001g at that point.

WOW , that baby was waaaayyyyyy out of wack . all joking aside , it's a good idea to have a check weight , it's piece of mind . now get loading and let us know your thoughts on the scale . I've already placed my bet , you're gonna love it .

Deputy I would suggest you perform the calibration without the pan on the scales. Put the wind shield up and then get into the calibration mode and make sure there is no breeze or vibration and then do your calibration. I also put the top on the wind shield and wait a few seconds before pushing the Print button. Once you have finished your test weight should then read 100.000 grams. Then you can put your pan on and push the Re- Zero button.

Calibration is important due to the effects of gravity. Google gravitational effects on analytical scales and you may be surprised how much difference moving North or South of your current location makes.

Are you referring to the metal pan inside the scale?

Maybe I read your post wrong. I thought you had put your powder pan on the scales before your test weight.

Oh, Lord No! LOL! I probably wasn't clear enough when I listed my steps. I did all you said.....but I waited 3 minutes for everything to equalize before I hit the "print" button.

If you get a reading like you did of 100.001g just do the calibration again. Mine does the same occasionally and if I redo the calibration it always reads the correct weight.

I just received the auto trickler v3 with the above mentioned scale as a kit, we use a granite surface plate to place it on but I like your idea about sink cut outs!

I took sedancowboy's suggestion and visited one of our local kitchen remodeling places. They GAVE me a sample square of granite that they no longer stocked.

I'm sure the granite plates will work well. I use oversize mouse pads. I can still observe there is a difference if I move my chair around to a new position or if I change air conditioner or fan alignment in the room. The Fx-120i is a sensitive scale but I take that as a good thing.
Too be honest, I am less worried about it's absolute accuracy than I am about it's consistency when I am loading up a batch of ammo. The FX-120i seems to do well, but I have my doubts that the Area 419 "accessories" I ordered after getting my V3 are helping. I would have a hard time recommending them to a friend considering what they cost.
