A&D FX-120i users....Let’s hear from you!

I bought a class 1 100 gram weight like a good boy. That said I don't think it really matters what class weight you use as long as you keep it clean and and dust free.

Even if your calibration weight is a full gram off it won't matter for reloading, weighing gold or chemicals yes, powder no. Why would I say such a foolish thing?

The scale will still have the .001 gram capabilities, even though you tell it to weight out 100 grains and it actually weighs out for example 99.82 grains it doesn't matter. You are going to work up your load and use whatever charge your gun likes. The number is just a reference number that is repeatable by the scales capability.

When I weighed out on a beam scale I used calibration weights and balanced the scale using calibration weights as close to the charge weight as I planned on using or where I thought I would end up. Once I got my FX120i I found out my calibration weights were .2 grains off but the gun didn't know the difference. I found a charge weight the gun liked and that was that.

So I think the scales repeatability is much more important than the weight you use to calibrate it for the purpose of reloading. Legal trade of silver or gold is another story.

What you have written does make a lot of sense. I would however like to point out that you found that your old beam scale calibration weight weighed .2 grains off and I would suggest that the only way you have come to that finding is because you used a very accurate calibration weight on your FX 120i scales.

Best reloading tool I've bought in yrs.
I bought the scale , auto throw and trickler. My calibration weight is a 338 bullet. It weighs 299.94 grains. I wrote the weight on the bullet with a sharpie so I could remember it.
Check into a Uninterrupted Power Surge (UPS). They regulate the power going to the scale and protect against surges and even have battery backup so the scale doesn't lose it's programed weight setting in the event of a power failure.

I used my new Autotrickler and A&D scale tonight for the first time.
It came with a 100 gram calibration weight.
It has output/resolution in .02 grain increments.
It usually (90% of the time) throws .02 grains less than the target.
the other 10% of the time it displays the target weight.
I probably need to learn how to fine tune the settings/set-up.

The system is a joy to use. It's easy to set up yet can be fine tuned for speed and accuracy.

Drafts in the room affected the scale. Only 2 of the 4 wind panels are used with the Autotrickler system.
I tested the effect of covering the right side of the scale with a paper towel and it significantly reduced the fluctuating readings caused by a draft.
It would be rather easy to put a hole in the right side panel for the trickler tube to pass through to enable that side panel to be used.

The only real glitch I experienced so far is that the unit lost bluetooth connection with my phone 3 times over the course of 2 hours. To resume connection, the unit had to be disconnected from the power.

Just got mine a few weeks ago with the V3 Auto Throw / Trickler due mid September.
Just finished up a 100 rounds trickling with my Redding trickler and all I can say WOW, why did I wait so long, if you can, get it!!
I was using a Ohaus beam scale prior and loads were so off, hence checked with the A&D, FOR ME it was just major pain the the rear constantly zeroing and hoping for the best
Deputy I purchased the exact class 1 calibration weight from Old Will's

Sounds good! Thanks for all the replies, fellas. Mine should arrive on Thursday and I'll see what I've been missing out on shortly thereafter. If it doesn't come with a check weight I'll shell out for a class 1.

Sooooooooo, the scale arrived today, but alas......no calibration weight. So, I've got one on order. A class 1 Troemner 100g weight. I did some quick comparisons between the A&D and a Hornady Lock-N-Load scale and there seems to be a fairly consistent .06gr difference between the two scales. Man, this is one SENSITIVE scale! I'm pretty anxious to get it properly calibrated and get down to business with it!

In the end I bought a Troemner test weight from a US supplier

I ordered a Troemner class 1 weight last week and it came in today. Set that thing on the scale and performed the calibration test (for the first time since I got the scale). After calibration the Troemner weight measured 100.001g. I'd say that's plenty enough accuracy for my needs. :D
