question for everyone. I have been loading for this .243 win for awhile now and haven't had anything strange until I tried loading the Barnes ttsx. I got loading info from Barnes and did a lot of reading seeing what other people used. Barnes load data with IMR 4350 was 42 gr starting and 46 grains max. I got pressure signs at 42 gr and even at 41.5 I am still getting 3400 FPS and heavy pressure signs. I have not had this issue loading other bullets in this rifle only the ttsx. Has anyone else experienced this.

What Barnes bullet ??
I have never seen 32 to 36 gr. loads listed for IMR 4350 with any Barnes bullet.
I have loaded 44 gr. of H4350 with 85 Barnes TSX bullets in 2 rifles with no problem.

morning, 4064, RL-15, W760,4831 and 4320 r
a few of the powders used for loading the 243. twist
and bullet weight make a difference which powder.

The 80 gr ttsx. I tried Varget also but I had heavy pressure signs with the starting load with that powder also

This is the load info that I got from Barnes

morning, go to internet. put accuracy loads for said
bullet weight--not make just bullet weight. u should
get a general idea on powder-charge.

Yup, something's amiss here. I shoot Barnes in several calibers. Barnes seem to run higher pressure than led core. But pressure signs at starting loads is very unusual. I shoot 85gr TSX in 243 with 32.0gr Varget, gets about 3190. I find that the suggested OALs work (50 thou off lands) well, along with the hotter end of the charge range in all calibers. Barnes like to be pushed for best accuracy. NOTE- I have been archiving Barnes reloading charts for over 10 years now. They have changed (lowered) the 7RM loads at least 3 times. Called them. New lawyers.

That's funny you say that! I thought I was the guy around who was saving all their load data. Recently they have turned down the load data haven't they?

.243 is known to show pressure at low powder charges. In your original post your load is about ten grains lower than the load shown in the book. Don't know why you would start at such a low charge when the book was that much higher.

I load Barnes bullets in seven different calibers and following the loads in the Barnes #4 reloading manual have never had any excess pressure until I was at the max powder charge.

Is your scale zeroed correctly? Malfunctioning? Another confused person regarding your starting loads.
