Picked up a newbie here a while back chambered in 330 Dakota. Playing with some different bullets and tried some Barnes 265 TTSX and WOW! does this gun ever like them. Just wondering if any body out there has experience with these big heavy bullets on deer size game. If just just poke a hole through or open up and do their job. Before you all jump all over this with too much gun and bullet etc and suggestions, all I am asking is about the performance of this bullet. Thanks

I used that bullet in a 338/375 Ruger which is nearly identical to a 330 Dakota ballistically. That bullet will perform very well on deer and I'd say it will damage less meat than a more frangible bullet from something like one of the .30 mags.

Never used the TSX but shot a MULE buck years ago with my 338 WM and very little meatdamage. I was using the 250 Nosler Partition back then. Big bore rifles with good bullets actually seem to destroy less meat good choice in my mind.

Thanks for the info. Have a black bear tag this fall was thinking on using this gun.several years ago I shot a deer with a 264 mag with the old Barnes bullets and I just as well been shooting full metal jackets. Just was nervous these heavys might do the same. Do know these new bullets are a lot better.
