I like introductions, I like to be first some times, I like shiny things...

I'll start first (again).

I believe I've been a member on the LRH board longer than anyone with the exception of Len, a dog and maybe Ian... This doesn't indicate anything other than every now and again even a dog beats me to the punch.

My father got me involved in shooting, he did a fine job of it as I still do it well (unlike a lot of the other things he taught me, most of which I've completely forgotten or have hopelessly screwed up).

I travel a bit, I prefer travel by truck/car but will fly if necessary (I hate the TSA folks, not any particular one just the idea and group as a whole). I hate to stop once I'm on a trek (especially if it's unexpected as in a plane crash or something such), my wife (bless her) puts up with my high-speed cross country drives but generally tries to skip the trip(s).

I work for the Federal Government as a computer specialist type, I retired from active duty Navy a bunch of years back but still work associated with my previous Navy jobs.

I like the 308 Winchester as a round but have had a rifle or two in about every chambering one could wish for, some kicked too hard to be real fun but they were good for conversations.

I like to hunt, not a work type hunt but a fun type lazy hunt, for example; I like to hunt deer but to get up at 3:30 A. M. and wander about for several hours via car, boat, 4-wheeler and foot is a little much. Also, I'm more careful about where I hunt as the idea of a 1 or 2 mile drag doesn't appeal to me too much anymore.

My wife won't let me have things she's deemed as dangerous: motorcycle, boat, 4-wheeler, camper (?), air plane, parachute, snow machine... to name the ones that come to mind soonest. She believes (and rightly so) that I'd kill myself if left alone with these things (she believes I'd take up permanent residence in the camper and sell the house [then she'd kill me] so that's why its on the list).

When I get into a knife sharpening mood she immediately stations herself in the kitchen next to the sink and arms herself with bandages...its generally not too long before I show up partially crippled... smart lady!! Her latest fears are cordless power tools, she thinks I can get too far from the house without that 50' orange power cord tether to make it back before I succumb to my injuries. (Did I mention that I'm missing a portion of my right index finger??)

I wear really think glasses, folks pick at me about it. Once on a hunting trip a guy asked me if I could see the little people waving when I looked at road maps???

I've met a bunch of the folks that post to this board: Len, Ian, me, BuffaloBob, Bob Arnold (I forgot his screen name) and others that of course now feel somewhat left out (sorry, I forget things easily).

I buy a lot of things two and three times because I often put them away in places so I won't lose them... I have about 50 knives but can only find about 4, somewhere I have some gold coins, I'm sure I have about half a dozen compasses...

I like to trade for things more so than buy and sell. I have a lot of stuff around that I could trade but I am just a little too lazy right now to take pictures and list it.

I better stop now so as to leave room for other folks to post important personal introduction facts.

Oh

My mother-in-law lives in Wisconsin and I thought perhaps I'd offer my apologies for that. She's not too bad but if you should ever meet her don't make direct eye contact as she takes her role as dominate fairly serious...

There are some really neat guys on this site, many with good senses of humor.

But Dave's humor is my favorite!

Hello Dave, I'm Rick. I am presently living in GA, but will be moving back to AK. As is the normal case for AK, I own and use a Colt Anaconda; Winchester 12 guage Defender, short barrel and pistol grip; a Rossi .44 "Trapper" model, short barrel and large bale to allow for winter gloves; a 1903A3 Springfield made by Smith-Carona (I have taken a 200+ # Caribou, at about 300-350 yards using open sights). I am a retired Marine who was sent to AK May of '85 to start a new unit...and I stayed when I retired. So now I'm in the process of moving back. The tough, independent Alaskan mentality has always appealed to me.
I came to this sight primarily to find a Springfiled '03 A4 stock. So far, this is my story.

Hi dave. Pretty sure i saw saw you in the emergency room. When my wife found out i bought another gun.I had to have gun removed from a .certain part of my body.Hope she never finds out about ziess it has 44mil objective.

Ah, there's the humor again. Have been missing it for a long time. Been trying to remember the last name for months. Had "Dave" locked in but blanked out on the last. I could tell you a story about a couple of barrels that you had made up. Let's see some posts... You flavor is needed.

Am I mistaken or is Dave's introduction from 2007?

Soooooo, Dave, what's new? Still hunting? Did you ever get that airplane?
