I got my Dec 2017 rooster back a couple months ago. Used a old split fence post I had found. First bird I have had mounted, after hunting them for over 40 years, I guess it was time.

Just under 70 days until the Iowa opener!! Need to try out a R3 I picked-up to see if it will replace the 11-87 as my scatter gun of choice or the Benelli (as a back-up). The pheasant tune-up (dove) opens here Sept 1st. My GSP is 11 now, but he acts like he has another good season left in him. Really looking forward to pheasant season this year...some things never change!

Thanks. Now that I have it back, I am thinking about having one in a standing position. Guess I will watch for big, long tailed, long spurred bird the the dog is gentle with. This bird was bagged on a COLD day, walking into a strong north wind and I was just wanting to get to the end of the draw and back to the truck. The bird got up a little ahead of me, but the wind slowed him down and a couple #5s from my quick snap shot hit in the right places to drop him. I shot 3 that day and all were old long spurred birds, kind of unusual....creates a memory for the day. Ready to go out and add more memories! Hope to get my father on more birds this year, he will turn 83 during the season. If did hadn't let me tag along as a youngster, I likely wouldn't have this passion now, 40 some years later.

Iowa'a pheasant tune-up season opens today, others call it "dove season". I will be waiting for some to come my way today. The pheasant opener is less than 8 weeks away!

I am a considerably better pheasant hunter than dove hunter. We shot only 5 hunting a couple hours the last 2 mornings. Will go out later next time I try it, early morning had very limited bird activity. Still way better than sleeping-in!

HI REMY,
Can you tell me how much the mount was??? I recently paid $500 for a Pintail that I almost reniged on. MEMORIES ARE EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
