Have spent nearly an hour on google, have not found a single person posting load data or, groups/velocity or terminal performace results with either the 199 or 214 hammer hunters specifically in 300wm.

Rifle is done, picking up this week. It was cut for berger 215s and although the 215s are proven again and again, I'd like to try a mono bullet. Not a fan of eating lead if it fragments...did that enough with paint chips as a kid, I'm sure.

Anybody have a starting point or seen success? Assuming H1000 for a temp stable slow burning powder? If it works for the 215s Bergers, it would almost have to work for the 214 Hammers, no?

Barrel is 1:9 so it should be able to stabilize either.

Thoughts/suggestions?

I messaged him as well. Figured starting a thread may alleviate some of his workload answering the same questions multiple times via email.

Agree Steve is very knowledgeable and knows his stuff.
I'll be following this thread as about time don the same

Look at the load data for a 200gr Accubond or 210gr ABLR from Nosler. The Nosler data tracks very closely with similar weight Hammer bullets.

I assume that you're using an OAL of at least 3.600". Using H1000 I'd start at 77.0gr and work up from there.

While I don't have experience with your combo I have had numerous conversations with Steve and he always has said use either Nosler or Hogdon load data for same weight lead based projectiles. Wondering if there might be a delay from Steve replying as possibly they might be in Africa on safari.

Steve told me RL23 has been working good with Hammers in 300 Win Mag. I was just asking about the 181 though. Still should be a good bet.

77.0gn sounds like a reasonable load but seems pretty high for a starting point. While it's not the Hammer bullet, I've been shooting the 200gn Barnes LRX at a load of 76.2, OAL 3.595, Norma brass, with good results. That is a mild load but it has been very accurate in my 24" 1:10 Bartlein barrel.

Speaking from my own personal experience with 181 hammers and h1000, starting at 77 gr with a 214 might be a bad idea. I started to see ejecector marks at 78.5 when loaded 10 thousandths off the lands with 181's.

My experience in the 300 WM has been 152 and 181 gr HH. I use 77gr H1000 in Norma brass with the 181 HH and it is pressured out about max where I feel it is safe. 2990 or so FPS with a 24" tube.

For comparison, same rifle with a 175 LRX gets up to 79gr compressed. I think the hammers show pressure with a little less powder, but also run quite a bit faster.

Also here for info on the 214's, my Norma improved will be running 215's and N570 but eyeing the hammer 214's to try out as well!

7828 ssc for the 181 hammers will get them going 3150 or so. there are a couple threads on here about them.

H1000 will get you to about 3000 depending on your barrel

I guess I wasn't clear, use Nosler load data for a SIMILAR weight bullet.
