Come at me Bro.’ Pew-Pew-Pew-Pew

Pigs are among the toughest animals and will keep going unless they are dropped with a head/neck shot. I had one run over 600 yards uphill with a heart shot from a mechanical broad head. He kept going until he ran out of blood.

I agree Remmy. No one is perfect. We all have missed our mark at least once. Or even because of a faulty bullet on the initial shot. That has happened to me having a bullet disintegrate on impact requiring a follow up shot. The best thing you can do in a situation like that is to dispatch the animal as quickly as possible. Those that say they never needed a follow up shot are either lying through their teeth, haven't been hunting long enough or just shot once and let the animal run off to die elsewhere requiring a tracking job. I hate to watch those videos where a person shoots and animal squarely in the lungs and just watches it either stumbling around or just standing there. For goodness sake, put another round in it an dispatch it and not let it suffer. But they'd rather say it only took one shot to build up their own ego.
I agree, Clem. I've made my philosophy known on this in other threads - I'm tired of the virtue signaling about how qualified someone is to take longer shots, how some people have no business doing it, etc., blah....blah....blah. We've all gotta make up our own minds on our capabilities and live with it when we mess up. Here's the thing, IMHO - A lot of guys are on this forum because they are fascinated with the concept of Long Range Hunting. They want to try it, explore their capabilities, and yes, sometimes push the envelope to build their confidence. Sanctimonious, "elite" pontificators who criticize someone for how long they shoot, what caliber they use, etc., do the sport a disservice because they dissuade people from exploring their capabilities. All that said, I totally get the downside. We have to accept the risks and learn from our mistakes.

Wow! It's pretty obvious that when somebody ( me) posts a reply that you don't agree with that the Neanderthal mentality surfaces. When you can't or don't have the mentality to engage in an intelligent discussion or opinion, that you resort to childish unfounded insults.

You threw out "animal cruelty" on hunting website.

Hey Bubba, there's a huge difference between killing an animal with a clean single shot that has the expectancy of actually killing and taking multiple, inaccurate shots. I've probably killed more animals than you've ever seen but that's not the point. The point is that his shots were way off the mark and should never have been taken.

Yes the shot was off the mark a bit but it was still a killing shot. Also, if I recall the video correctly he did hit the pig with every shot while it was running right to left at 30+ mph AT NIGHT, trying to dispatch it quickly which he did. And, if your statement that you've killed more animals then the other poster has ever seen, and you never had to take a follow up shot I'd be the first one to call that an untruth.

You are correct. In fact I always take a follow up shot. Always. Killing tasty animals is a great pastime for some and a way of life for others. Loading up an animal with lead, or copper, is just a waste of a life. Killing cleanly and quickly produces the best meat. I don't anybody here that actually hunts for food will disagree with that.

I'm going to be straight forward and honest here. I belong to a lot of hunting and shooting sites. And they all have their share of braggarts which is par for the course. Now don't get me wrong, I like this site, and I've learned a great deal in the short time I've been here. But there are, IMO, some members that really don't belong here. I'm not going to name names. But big egos, holier then thou attitudes and aggravated verbal attacks on other member is not only sad but its also against the rules.
I don't mind disagreement but I can't abide name calling and outright lying. I believe the moderators should begin taking a closer look at some of these posts and begin issuing warnings to the members. Remember a very famous person told us we should love one another as we love our selves.
