Truing an action over rated?

How much/if it helps likely depends on how far off it is to start with. It could be that one in however many came out perfect.
Have it done, but have the smith put some numbers to it besides expense.

I'm picking up my rem700 sendero tomorrow from the Smith. Had him put on a bartlein 3b barrel and had him true the action and thread the muzzle and install a break. O and he put a mini 16 extractor on the bolt. I supplied the barrel and I'm paying $675. Well worth paying the $225 for the trueing imo. Can't wait to work up the load for elk season!! Side note is my sendero shot .2-.5 usually but would sometimes open up to over an inch for whatever reason. I flung around 700 rnds down that tube and killed a couple bears.

Powder/copper fouling is a guess. Some barrels will start showing issues with 20 shots down the barrel.

Chasing the lands is critical to maintain accuracy

JB and JB purple on patches after scrubbing with good bronze bristle brushes are your friend when you start shooting. Lyman bore scope is great money to spend.

That right there proves you don't check your actions or don't care to know!!

You got to expand on this comment brother...sorry I am not trying to be a chump, I am asking a ton of questions, but its just because this is my first venture into custom gun world...lol

Are you saying that even aftermarket actions might need to be trued up?

Yes. Even custom and aftermarket actions need to be trued...At minimum the receiver face and bolt face to ensure they're are close to perfectly square as humanly possible. Ask any smith worth his salt, and even they'll admit this to be true.

Well that freaking sucks...
I have no idea what happened. My internet just went down, so I thought my WiFi just wasn't working and not updating things. But I turned off my WiFi on my phone and refreshed everything and it's not coming back. I also noticed that I lost likes on my posts, almost like everything from a certain time frame was deleted. Very strange

My smith told my Remington action was straighter than the customs he sees come thru his shop after he trued mine up.
