6.5-06AI shooters and 156 EOL

I haven't found anyone who makes 6.5x280 ackley dies or a seater die. I figured I could use a 280 ackley die with a smaller bushing but I can't figure out the seater. Trying to decide between a 6.5x280 ackley and a 6.5saum on a long action.
280ai die with a .294 bushing in it, or a bushing in that range anyways depending on how much neck tension you want.

Perfect thread timing. I just got my 6.5-06ai dies today. I have RL 26 and N565 I'm thinking of trying with the 156. Think N565 will be a little fast for the 156?

Mine is built on a Tikka with a 27" #4 Benchmark 8 twist. I've had it for years and haven't done anything with it.
Thanks for the info. I will add data to the thread when I get it.
Don't for get N570 used it in my 6.5 Sherman workers very well. I could never get my hands on 565 so I couldn't try it.

No accuracy yet. The 56grn was easily under .5" and the 58.5grn load was close to that as well. My gun seemed to like a .010 jump from the Berger 135s so I stuck with that for now. If I can replicate that I probably won't even adjust the seating depth.
Curious to understand how the 156 works with the 8 twist bbl... I'll be waiting for your tuning tests.

Just went out and stretched her legs a little today. I can't find a range down here that is further than 300, so I usually hike back into the mountains with my hunting pack and gear.

Environmentals when I started Temp 74.6F,
2.5 mph headwind,
Alt 3200',
Density Altitude 4700'.
After my last shot I checked temp again and it was 90. Winds really hadn't changed.
Target was at 500yds.

I loaded up 4 at 57.5 grns and 4 at 58.5 grn using RL26 still. I also ran a few of my 122grn nonlead out to that range.

Anyway, best group was with the 58.5 grn load which was the last group I shot. This group confirmed my last outing with an average speed on 3087fps. I still had a few rounds to shoot but there was so much sweat running into my eyes by then I called it quits. Plus my dog wouldn't leave me alone and he had to be touching me no matter what so all his panting was transferring through me to the scope! I was actually surprised at the last group because of this.

For those on the fence wondering if an 8 twist can run these I think it will do just fine.

Group below is the 58.5grn group @ 500 yds. Average 3087 FPS. Group was 2.67", not to bad for a thin barreled hunting gun! Now if I could only use the 156grn Berger in Cali...
