Looking for a new scope for my hunting rifle. Weight and low light performance are the main concerns for this scope. I tend to hold over majority of the time. $1500-$2000 max is the range I want to be. Also looking at the vx6hd. Any opinions would be appreciated

I have a V6 and a VX6 non HD and like them both for different reasons. Both have good glass. Like the Leupold reticle better since it is TMOA and like the turrets better on the Zeiss.

I have two of the VX6HDs in 3-18. They are great scopes - light weight, clear glass, solid tracking, and the TMOA reticle works well. I have a Zeiss V4 that is fine, but does not have the same clarity or brightness as the Leupold. I understand the Zeiss V6s are a naked improvement over the V4s. But, based on my experience, I lean towards the Leupold.

I much prefer the Zeiss V6 to a VX-6HD. I had a 5-30x50 that tracked perfectly and had incredible glass. Had 3-18x44 VX-6HD that was a crapshoot just to zero and the glass was poor. Check out the demo V6 prices at Red Hawk Rifles.

The glass on the V6 is better to my eyes. I don't have the VX6HD but have 2 VX5HDs (same glass) Zeiss calls their V6 FL glass which is supposed to be a step above HD. I have the 5-30x50 and it is sweet, I traded into it or it may have never even hit my radar

I 3 Zeiss V6's and have great success with all of them, and will purchase more. I would highly recommend them to anyone. Glass clarity is very good, and I really like the turrets. For me its the combination of light weight and glass clarity that really works.

Kind of off the subject but how would the V6 compare to the NF nx8 4-32 when it comes to glass clarity and low light? I know the NF isn't 100% geared towards hunting but I'm curious

I heard someone who compared the nx8 say it's better than the nxs glass but short against the ATACR glass. Knowing that, my VX-5 & VX-6's & Zeiss V6 have slightly better glass than the nsx but I haven't compared it to an ATACR. Hopefully NF got rid of the parallax/focus issue in this new line.
Better than all of them I would get the March on closeout at $2,047

V6 has great glass. I have the Christmas tree reticle. I don't like it for target shooting at distance. The crosshairs are thick enough that they start covering up the bullseye at 700 yards and grouping falls off. Don't know about the other reticles...

Only complaint I have too. I like the the fine reticle like the TMOA or MOAR-T

Maybe they changed this by now. But, the turrets in my Zeiss do not identify which one adjusts windage vs. elevation. They both have U/R on them. I put an indicator in one cap so I could tell the difference. Kind of small issue when compared to scope quality, but certainly important when using the scope after the firearm sits in the safe long enough to forget.

This is what the turrets on my V6 look like:
