Working up 7mm-08 load suggestions

My pet load for Browning A-Bolt micro medallion youth rifle (20" BBL), Weatherby Camilla (20" BBL)and Fierce Firearms custom CT Edge (22" BBl) is 145 gr Barnes LRX ahead of 46 grs of RL-17, CCI BR-2 Primer and Lapua Brass. I get 2670 fps out of the Browning, 2700 in the Camilla and 2844 in the FF Custom. All less than 1 MOA (1/2 MOA in the FF) and very effective on game. Wife went three for three one shot kills on African Plains game off the sticks out to 150 yds. I had good luck with the little micro for years with 140 gr Nosler partition or SGK and 45.6 grs of I 4350...about the same velocity and results. The latter shoots lights out in my daughter-in-law's Rem 700 Walnut and Stainless in 24" BBl and she clocks right at 2900 fps in that longer pipe.

45.7 big game col 2.800 150 eld-x half moa out of my Tika 3 lite. More than enough energy at at 500 yrds.

I'm a big fan of semi's, but they do demand better follow through at distance, and bleed off some speed.

I shoot 168gr. berger vld out of my 22", 1:10 twist barrel 7/08 @ 2625 fps. This setup has taken bucks at 315, 420, 500 and 550 yards.

forgot to mention 40.2 grains varget

I've been working on a load for my 16.5" barrel the only thing it likes is SMK 130s 40 gr of varget but that's not what I want but that's what I got

I shoot 145 Barnes LRX out of 22" Fierce firearms CT Carbon Edge rifle. 46 grs of RL-17, CCI BR-2 primer and Lapua brass. Very accurate and deadly. Leaves the muzzle at 2844 Fps.

Anybody have good 130/140 load success with older slow twist (1:11) barrels?
Anyone try the new Winchester 6.5 StaBall yet?

I use 45gr IMR4350 in norma brass with 140gr AB, CCI BR2 shoots good in 20" barrel. Will finish load tuning this week with warmer weather, under 1/2"now so it can only get better. Its been suggested to me to try BigGame as varget wasn't quite as accurate as the 4350 when I first worked up the load. Lot of powders work good in that case size. IMR 4064 is another I have but never tried, it shoots lights out in a 22-250 so I should try that as well I guess. Oh forgot to mention 1 in 9" twist which I like for 140's in 7mm-08. As some here may know, I recently bought a Bergara B14, Ridge, in 7'08. Shot it for first time Friday, didn't like anything with Varget, much to my surprise. It did however like R17, with 150AB. Going to revisit thst load, and all other bullets that were shot with the Varget. They were 140TTSX, 139 Interlock, and150 smk. Groups were terrible, but also on the lite side. 41.1.
Load with AB, was 45.0-RL17.

My rifle right now is a 65CM Savage Axis that shoots great with I4350, but I've had 7-08's before, and really like the caliber. I have a NOS Stevens 22" barrel for it with 1:11.25 twist-just haven't screwed it on yet. Buddy of mine has 8# of the StaBall powder so I'm gonna get some off him to try out once I get over the flu. I've got Speer 145's but they may be right on the line for the twist.

Sounds like a great plan !!!, thks and good luck ,keep us posted , Speer makes a 130 hot/core,sadly they stoped makeing the 120 hot/core , but Sierra makes 120's&130 in a Match king ,Nosler makes their 120 Ballistic tip ,Hornady mite make a120 also , cheers .
