Hello all.
I have a tikka t3x in 6.5 creedmoor that I thought about selling and or trading in.
I like tikka so I was wondering if I can have the barrel reamed to a 6.5-06.
What kind of advice can I get. I can't afford the high dollar custom rifles. If it can be done would it be a upgrade. I'm just not to excited about the creedmoor anymore. I got about a 100 firings down the barrel. Advice or criticism would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance BRUCE.

You might not have enough barrel shank for the longer cartridge. Ask your gunsmith to look at it. What do you want for the creed if you sell it?

The problem your going to run into is mag. box length with the 6.5-06 and 140's if you wanna be at or above the neck shoulder junction. You'll be 3.4+

why not, the creed case isn't all that much shorter. It would really be up to the smith. I'm pretty sure that '06 should clean out the creed chamber all the way. While you may not be able to seat the 140+gr bullets way out into the neck and still run the mag, you'll definitely gain performance. The creed case is pretty well 49mm where the '06 case is 63mm, so you'll need about 1.5cm in the shank to get the new case reamed correctly. And mags won't be an issue, but you'd need to get a LA bolt stop for the tikka, or you won't be able to pick up rounds from the LA mag.

6.5-06 AI might work, but I'm pretty sure the taper in a straight 6.5-06 isn't going to work in the creedmoor chamber. Either way, I think you should really give the creedmoor a try with RL-26 and see if you can be happy with it. If you really think you need the horsepower of a 6.5-06 then you'd be better off putting a new barrel on it. Just my opinion.

6.5 creed with rl-26 will easily push a 140 2900+ fps if your using hornday brass and have atleast a 24in barrel. However, I'm sure rl-26 in a 6.5-06 will be well over 3000 fps so you just need to decide what kind of performance your looking for.

To add to my first statement there is also the added costs of the smith work, switching the bolt stop and magazine ( as mentioned earlier) as well as getting brass and dies. Also, for me personally when I walk into a gun shop that has a rifle with xxx through the old caliber Id and a new one stamped I shy away from them all together. You would be way ahead to sell and buy what you want. again stepping from a creed to a 6.5-06 there just isn't enough performance to justify for me. It takes approximately 6 gr more reloder 26 to gain 50'/sec. Good luck to you.

You might gain 100fps from Creedmore to 6.5-06. Not at all worth it. Your creedmore will do just fine. One of my 6.5-06 struggles to get 2800-50 fps with the 140. Not worth re-barreling unless your accuracy is no bueno.
