.243 Win. vs 6mm Creed.

hmm, I must be in the wrong place. I am about to get so much hate for what I am about to say. I hate 6MM/243 and 6.5/264 calibers. I would rather have a 25-06 or a 257 Rob. AI than any of the 6MM/.243 calibers or 6.5/.264 calibers. I see no need for either 6 or 6.5 MM when the 25 calibers are in existence.

You won't get any hate from me, I shoot a .250-3000 and .25-06 as well. However, you are right you're in the wrong place.

What kind of gun nuts are you guys? I thought the goal was at least one in every caliber...

Yeah, well, a 6.5/06, a 6.5 saum, and a 260 Ackley went 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at the nightforce ELR match last weekend in Wyoming in the hunter division "16 pounds, rifle, scope, and magazine." 6.5s also shot high overall from that match as well. So I guess there may be a need for the. 264?

243 is a good light game calibre and it wasn't designed as a target cartridge, have owned a few and they have performed as expected. If heavier bullets are required I just use a 270, 308 or 300win. Haven't shot 6mm Creed but it seems that the advertising gurus have done their job just like they did for the 243 way back when.
There are better target cartridges and infinitely better hunting cartridges if long actions don't scare you. If shooting steel with low powered cartridges are your thing I guess it'd be good, plenty of LR target shooters shoot it.
When all of the 6mm wonder cartridges have been released, I'll take a 25-06 in the field every day.

Good for you. After all it does fly a whole 2" flatter to 500. The 6mm has less (slightly) drift at 500, and carries 1000 ft-lbs about 40 yards further (696 vs 738).

It's a wash, so you don't need one. But if someone were buying a new rifle, 25-06 would be a tough sell imo.

The .270 is way better than most. Most of the guys I here talk about their's, are holding a foot over the back at "1000 yards" and dropping stuff like it's cool. I was going to get one, but that whole long action thing kind of scared me off.

And if you're going to go with this, I haven't yet put rounds down range with my newly built 25 Creedmoor with the 131 Black Jack, to see what it do?!

Which sounds like a badass, but what about someone shooting off the shelf rigs? Maybe the 25 will make it but for now...

OP have you figured out what your going to do????? What is your new gun going to be????

If it's in a creedmoor case, it should shoot 1/4 moa, all day long, as long as you do your part...
