First time with a Manson reamer!!

Started out with PTG reamers years ago then got my first JGS and promptly replaced all my PTG with quality reamers and I have been reluctant to try others just cause the JGS is such an excellent tool but I chambered up a 7 Sherman MAX to give the Manson a try and was very, very happy!!
The little keeper ring was a little annoying BUT with the coolant groove fully exposed I think I had better coolant flow on the Manson than with the JGS high flow bushing, stopped a couple times to check and had complete chip evacuation the whole chamber which just makes better and easier chambering. It did like a little slower feed but still just dropped in like butter, surface finish was outstanding and it cut a spec chamber and just ran smoooooth!!

HUGE thumbs up on the Manson reamers for both quality and pricing!!!

I no Dave personally he is a super guy. I have told a few gunsmiths about him as a person and a couple are using his reamers now. They have told me he makes a great product and is great to deal with.

I have been using Manson reamers for many, many years. Probably close to 15+. Most of the reamers I own are made by Manson with a few JGS in the tool drawer, too. Every PT&G reamer I have bought or used has given me trouble. I have come down to refusing to use a customer supplied PT&G reamer, even if it 'costs' me the job. The PT&G reamers I do own have all been re-ground by Dave Mansons' shop. Now, they cut as they should. For those who are going to buy their own reamer, ask the gunsmith who will be using it who you should have make it.

I used to use PT&G reamers because they had them in stock most of the time. I also used Clymer and Manson depending on availability. After using several different brands it became obvious as to which was the better reamer. I found myself ordering Dave Manson every time and didn't worry about In Stock delivery times and more about quality.

I also tried the JGS reamers and found them to be excellent also. I am down to two reamer brands and (Manson & JGS are the only ones that I order) All of my wildcat reamers are Manson's because he does such a great job and will take the time and discuss your design and make suggestions willingly.

I hate to say it but I no longer buy PT&G reamers because of there quality and customer service. I do order some rifle parts from them that are very good but don't enjoy their customer service.

Glad you liked it. Thats where I bought my reamer and go and no go gauges from for my .30 cal wildcat.

Dave is an awesome guy...if I have my preference I'll buy a Manson every time.

I've only bought two Manson Reamers and have no complaints. I am considering a PTG reamer to cut the counter bore on a Remington chamber. Manson does not make it.

What size counterbore are you wanting to cut?

DM reamers or nothing at all!

They do have this And it also faces off the end of the tenon to the correct length. Call Dave at his office. He sent me that text.

You can't go wrong with a Manson reamer. Dave is a perfectionist and has been know to personally do the finish grind on his reamers.

If you grind a tool right you can in one pass cut your bolt nose recess much faster than a form tool, I used the form tool a couple times then got rid of it as it's just a pain in the butt compared to just a well ground tool or a carbide boring bar.

I want to cut the counter bore at beginning of the chamber of a Remington 700 barrel. For me, this the hardest part of installing a custom barrel. I cut it before I cut the threads in case I mess it up. PTG makes a reamer for it. I didn't know Manson does also. Dave always answers my questions. I'll check with him. I'm a hobby gunsmith, not a machinest.

Know Dave for years. He invited me up to his shop when we were talking about a reamer. Went up there and he gave us a tour of the place. Only thing I can say is very impressive with the machinery and the work of his people. He's the best.
