300 norma mag loads

Everyone's aware the peterson brass is 3 thousandths undersized at the web right? At least all mine was. I have lapua, Bertram and Peterson, never purchased the norma as heard it was very soft.

I emailed ADG this week and they are working on 300 Norma brass as well. It will be another good option once it hits the market in addition to Lapua and Petersen.

300 Norma Load Data: 85 grains of H1000, 215M primer, 215 Hybrid Berger, .030 off the lands. Very low ES and SD. 3140 fps out of my 29" Bartlein 9 twist barrel. Sub 1/2 MOA out to 1661 yards. That is as far as I have been able to shoot it. I am also using Peterson brass and the primer pockets are tight after 5X reloads.

I was able to take a buffalo at 365 yards this last November in New Mexico.

Great cartridge!

I have become a smart hunter and I find a spot where I'm on a ridge, not to far of a walk, sit, and wait. There is noting out of my range from there. I use a .338 Lupua round with a 250grn Berger bullet, 28" barrel, 3000fps. Anything within 800 meters I own, Get my deer, elk and go home. My longest shot has been 1430 meters for an elk that had circled around and was about 300 meters from my truck. Easy load out ever!

Now that's my idea of hunting! Can't get no better than that.

I am using norma brass for my .300 norma mag, with hornady 220 eld-x bullets and H1000 powder out of a 22" Proof Research carbon fiber barrel. I have been using 84.2 grains and getting 2864 fps on my five round group. How much of a difference in fps do you think a longer barrel would make? I would like to get over 2950 fps but I am not sure how much my shorter barrel is effecting the velocity.

My guess would be about 40'/inch

That would put me within the 3000 fps range then if I moved up to a 26" barrel. So maybe my speed is good at 2864 fps out of a 22" barrel.
It should be do better than that depending on your powder. I ran some 230 hybrids this week with moderate pressure at 3050' out of my 30 Sherman Magnum with a 28" barrel. That was with N570 and a case capacity of 98.4 grains H20. Will h H1000, I'd have to stand on it to get 3000' with the 230.
