I bought 150 pieces of Sig Sauer .308 brass (all same batch) a while back and finally got around to loading it and shooting it last week and thought I would share my experience.
First off, Ill say that Im no expert reloader, but I do like a good accurate round, so I try. I know I do less than lots of guys here, but I dont have trouble getting .5moa out of my loads in my factory savage rifles, and thats good enough for me.
Anyway, before loading, I randomly weighed and measured about a third of the brass.
I was pleasantly surprised that EVERY one I measured was 2.005 on the nose.
As for weight, they were all within a grain of each other (half grain either way of the "average")
and they were about 3 grains heavier than the remington brass I have been using, which had about a 4 grain spread in weight. The Sig is much more consistent.
On the range, I got an extra 50-75 fps over the remington brass with the same powder load. primer, depth etc., depending on the bullet.
I used my normal loads of 43gn IMR4895, and 43.5gn Varget, no pressure signs
I got 2795fps average with 165 SST's,
2785fps with 168 TTSX
2750fps with Berger 168 VLD Hunting
2767 with Hornady 168 BTHP Match
All shot .4-.6 moa
CCI Primers
Savage 110 Tactical with 24" barrel, 10 twist.
Overall, I'm very happy with the consistency of the brass. Cant speak to its longevity yet, but like I said, no pressure signs usually gets you pretty long life. Especially on the lowly 308 haha.
I couldnt find much info on the brass, but I bought it because I got a great deal, and I hope maybe this helps someone who was looking into getting some.
