I am shooting the 215 Berger at 3100 fps. Have hammered tons of elk with it and took a Moose last week at 1033 yards. tested many, this one is hard to beat.

I'm looking at the Christensen arms ridgeline rifles for a lighter pack rifle for an upcoming Alaska moose hunt and high country elk hunt. I'm wanting to shoot the Berger 210.
Im having trouble deciding on the caliber and looking for some opinions and pros and cons.

Don't overlook the .300 Wby if you are set on 30 caliber. Also .338 Win.Mag. and the 340 Wby. mag. are splendid for what you have in mind.

Never count out the 300 Weatherby for that size bolt face or have fun and roll a 30-378! If you could move up to that size bolt face! Would not have an issue with any current bullet weight pushing hard and fast!!!

I have never hunted in AK, would love to one day!! But I believe I would definitely look at a 338 call in my personal opinion with the ole 300 berg pill. But a 30cal would not be a problem. I am fond of the Mark V actions, over any other production actions.

Keep in mind you're going to be in Alaska and airlines are notorious for losing ammunition. So I'd go with something that I know I can go to the nearest store and buy ammunition for. You may not want to get a 300 Winmag, but the round is available just about everywhere up there, and with heavy bullets. I'm not sure about how available the 300 winchester Short Magnum is, though. I'd hate to see a ruined hunt due to no ammunition available in an emergency. Just a thought.

Another fyi for 300RUM Ridgeline...
I chose to run the 212g eldx at 3050fps mainly because my NXS scope reticle bdc is "correctist" for that speed and altitude ill most likely hunt. You could easily push past 3100fps with either the 212g or berger 215g. They have very close bering surfaces. And I believe the 212g eldx had a slightly higher BC than the 220g eldx for some reason.

212eldx bearing surface is a lot longer than the 215 Berger. Photo is 215 Berger, 212eldx, 200eldx
