Is federal brass in 30-06 have a smaller volume than most brass in 06? Or is it softer then most? I'm having alot of pressure issue even low in the charge weight scale on several bullets. Anyone have any input?

well did you measure the volume BEFORE you started loading it ?
yes it has a rep for being soft.

Wow Mud, a product you hate more that Hornady? That's gotta be some bad stuff. I got some virgin FC 243 brass for free. I planned to work up a deer load that I don't have to dig through the grass or snow if I lose a couple. But given their reputation, I likely wouldn't buy any by choice.

Well that's good to know. Thanks guys. No I didn't measure the volume before loading. I never have. I always start low

When you get 3 firings out of brass from mild loads, yeah, it's pretty much garbage.

I don't hate Hornady, just the cartridges they make and the false claims they put on them.

I have 350 fed gmm 308 win cases that weigh within 1.5 grains for the lot.I'm getting single digit es and 1/2moa groups with it. It may not be lapua tough but I paid a lot less for it.

morning, fed. is junk, I use the old Winchester brass, never
had a problem. I use lapua and norma brass in my 243AI and 308.
all my wbee's I use norma. Icaught some on a sale.
very good brass. justme gbot tum

I use it in my 308. Had a bunch from years ago. I've got 7 firings on it and it's pretty much finished from loose primer pockets. I'll shoot it once more and scrap it. Saying that, with some work I got it to be consistent for me, but it does show pressure early.

I had similar experience but mostly .300 WM, .30-06, and .270 Win.

I haven't had any big issues with Fed brass in 308 win, 30-06, 223. It seems softer then other, but I've had consistent results with it.

I have always had issues with FC brass in that the primer pockets were loose and primers would fall out on some reloads during firing or just in the ammo can, these on once fired factory brass reloaded for the first time. I now steer clear of it.

I used some Federal 30-06 brass that had been given to me, once fired, and found it showed signs of pressure at a load below book max so I weighed it and found it to be considerably heavier than the Winchester brass I had been using. I believe the weight difference was 15 -20 grains. I put an entry in my notebook to load it lighter next time because it may have less capacity. Haven't tried it since though.
