Match vs standard primers...any difference?

Call it what you will but there is a "quality difference" between a Wolf primer (or similar) and a Federal Match primer (or similar).

I have used Winchester, CCI, Federal, match/non-match versions and never experienced a 2+MOA spread with just a primer switch. Guess it's not impossible but luckily, not something I've experienced.

there are known quality primers for KNOWN cartridges and some times known powders and bullet weights.
never say never.
go look at 6mm dasher you pick rl15 the primer is cci450.

I will knw for myself shortly. Have been using standard Federal primers and have been happy with them. Got some match primers to try. Will come back to thread after I try them.

wolf small rifle mag primers have/are used by some bench rest shooters. the most popular is fed and fed match

I went from cci srp to cci br primers and there was very little if no difference in accuracy or es or sd in my 223. I have used regular cci and fed primers in my 308 with very little difference. Fixing too give fed match primers a go in my 6.5 creed too see if I can get my es and sd a little better in it. I have a brick of Winchester large magnum and regular large primers on the shelf but haven't tried them yet

One of us is using ignorant prejudice here. Wolf brand is just another option when finishing a good load.

I prefer using the 215M over the 215 and I have seen them give me slightly more consistent FPS and slightly lower SD. However, the difference was marginal and for my hunting purposes probably not necessary.

I always just figured the difference was QC and for the half penny or so in cost difference I use them in certain applications. But I also think there are many variables at play and I've had non-match primers work as just as well.

Thanks Rich for the support... I wasn't hallucinating...( Thought I might have been for the first minute...lol) I was shocked myself by the results.

I know that match primers improve my groups when I load for my standard .30 caliber rifles.

The difference between Fed 210 and 210M is the experience level of the production crew. Atleast told to me by a ballistics lab manager 15 years ago. The compound is the same but the consistency is expected to be better due to the experience level of the worker.

Yes there's a difference. 2 cents a piece.
