I need a nice pump for waterfowl. I was looking at supernova, my uncle has one and he uses it a a crowbar, a paddle, and fence post driver and it has held up really well. I was thinking the supernova or a Remington but I've heard that Remington's quality control has dropped a lot in the past couple years. Is this true? Thx

Why are you looking for a pump versus semi auto? As for Remington, I haven't heard anything bad about the V3. I'm also looking at the Beretta A400 and the Winchester SX4, though I'm looking for both a waterfall and upland gun.

Buy a pump now if you need to but save up for an inertia semi. Best waterfowl gun in my opinion. I'm a Benelli guy all the way but inertia shotguns are the only way to go if you hunt a lot. I can hunt until dark and then clean my Benelli in about 5 minutes and be ready to hunt in the AM. No way you can do that with a gas gun. Plus, it goes bang every time you pull the trigger

I can hunt all week and shoot clays and still have no malfunction in my Browning Gold... which is a gas gun that also happens to be one of the softest recoiling 12 gauges made.
Matter-of-fact, I have never had a malfunction in that gun, even on two week long hunting trips, shooting many, many rounds whereas I only wiped the outside of the gun down.

I prefer inertia over gas for no other reason than the ease of cleaning. I hunt in pits that are just a hole dug and a wood top and my gun can get very dirty sometimes even if I never pull the trigger. I don't dislike gas guns, I just love inertia guns.

Actually I do like the A400, can't hit myself in the butt using both hands with an 1100, it's a fit thing. I also carried a Benelli M1 in Swat for a lot of years. Kinda became attached to the weapon system.
I shoot well with the Benelli and I love low maintenance.
