Bought a savage 112 magnum target & want to lighten it up for hunting rig. I have a Mcmillan game hunter stock on order & looking at proof research 26in carbon fiber barrel with slayer break. My only issue is will it work. Looking on Proof Research website they do sell a .338 26in blank, but for there sendero large contour (.338 & larger calibers) there diameter is 1.250. I believe a savage large shank barrel is 1.20 diameter. I asked this question to proof customer service & they told me to ask my gunsmith. Anyone know, Thanks

Is the barrel still a blank. Or has it been threaded already for another gun?

If not, It will work if you have it mounted without the barrel nut. BUT If the Shank is long enough you can turn it down to get it to work with the nut. It will look a little funny. But would work. You would want to check with a smith to make sure.

As for the stock. I want to see how it works out for you.

I have not bought it yet & I would want to keep the barrel nut. Is there another carbon fiber barrel on the market that will work with a savage

Does anyone have any experience with carbonsix barrels

I do not. But when I get one thats were I am going. The have a better selection then proof does.

Hopefully some one with experience will chime in. I have heard good about them.

If not you might need to start a thread with that as the question.
