I purchased a new CA ridgeline in 28 nosler. I purchased the only box of nosler ammo I could find at the time (160 gr) to break in the barrel. I'm half way through the box and I'm getting some slight stiff bolt and major ejector Mark's. Has any one else seen this?

Also I purchased a box of 175 eldx I would like to get some 180 bergers and does any one have any experience with the 1-9 twist using the 155 hammer hunters?

The Nosler brass is a bit too soft and weak in the web. We're waiting for better and more options, to run it at a higher velocity node. I can get to 3200+fps safely with the Nosler brass and 180 ELDM, but with only 1 firing and it's trashed.

Nosler brass is known to be pretty soft, I get slight markings from my custom 28 nosler. How much bolt stick is there? Did it happen with all the ammo or just half way through the box?

In all likelihood your CA rifle was chambered with a saami reamer stay with the 150-168 class bullets any heavier and your gonna run into alot of the bullet stuffed into the neck and more pressure. A 28 needs at least about .300 freebore to run the 195 and saami is around .130. Get your hands on some ADG brass when you can.

This is all wrong info. SAAMI freebore is .181" and yes you can shoot 180 & 195 with it. I've built a few all using the same SAAMI reamer and all have shot great with the 195 and RL33. Velocity will range depending on barrel twist and length. You can not get to the higher node without more freebore but most run around 3050fps with a 195. In my personal rifle I use 180 and RL33 with a 1-9" twist Brux barrel running 3140fps. I use 26nosler brass necked up so I do not have to neck turn my brass. If I use 28brass I neck turn.

I know this issue personally. There is a couple issues. One the main one is the brass as stated. Ive seen a few rifles Remington or not actions. The pressure signs start with the 180 when velocities get 3050-3075 fps and remain almost the same to 3250. The ca rifles though really destroy brass with the double plungers. That's the second main issue. Ive had to where I can get extractor marks and get quite a few firings. But it absolutely makes me crazy. I have also tried Bertram brass and nosler 26 brass necked up. Because at the early stages that's all that was available.

All this information is great but all the pressure has been with 160 gr factory ammo. I don't plan on shooting anything over 180s. I called ca today and they said they have seen this on all there guns. I got a box of choice ammo loaded with 180 bergers today, no pressure signs. I dont mind downloading the cartridge but I'm not done breaking this one in and it seems like its eating this brass

I did not say you could not shoot the 180-195 with a saami reamer, to get the boatail bearing surface junction at the neck shoulder junction of the brass with a 195 your gonna need .300+ freebore.

I load 180 vldh at 3240 FPS and have loaded my nosler brass 5 times now and will maybe get one more loading on them.
Other friends have the same results as I have with there's.
Maybe your a little hot for your gun if you get one loading on it and it's trashed ?

I'v been a reloader for a long time, I know what the danger zone looks like. Zero on all normal pressure signs, with a new box of 25 26 Nosler, the last 12 of the load work-up, where the issue, when I got back to the bench and started removing primers, they took very little effort to remove. I already have a accuracy at 80.4 gr Retumbo-180ELDM-6.8SD-15ES. Was searching for a higher velocity accuracy node and found it with 81.6 gr Retumbo-6.2SD-16ES. Whenever I can get some ADG (on the coming soon list), I want to test see if the higher node, is in fact stable? But, with the Nosler case, it won't get there.

Berger 175 elite, between 82 and 83 grains of n570, fed 215m, 10 thou jump. I have seen three 28n ridgelines shoot sub .5 with that load. The 175 is great in all conditions with the 9 twist and the boat tail bearing surface junction is right at the neck shoulder junction. Work up to that load of course.
