Anybody know where I can get dies??? Rifle has been built for weeks, RCBS quit doing custom stuff. Been jacking with Lee for 3- weeks with some of the worst customer service from Jim I have ever had in my life. And he will not even take the order untill I send in 5- fired cases, I asked how do you send in fired cases without dies and no factory ammo available?? He didn't care even with all the reamer drawings and specs from PTG. So I am at wits end. C&H is 2- years behind or something rediculous. Any help would be really appreciated.

I would also check with Redding. They list that chambering in their custom line. I've ordered a few of their custom dies and I really like them.

I got a 3- die set of Redding 300 RUM dies and a gunsmith will make them into 416 RUM dies. I ordered expander and bullet seater from Redding, its already here great service

Is there any way you could fire form them a couple of times with Cream of wheat or ground oatmeal over pistol powder?
At least you could have them 98% formed for Lee.

Well a big bore shooter on another forum made me a set that shipped Monday. I sent him a Redding 3- die set and he annealed the dies put the 300 RUM set in a lathe and took them out to .416. Sizer has .003" neck trnsion. I ordered the two 416 expanders and the bullet seater from Redding and should be here and loading tomorrow or Thursday. God Bless Mr. Fox or I would have been waiting 4-6 months.

The dies were the hardest part of this custom build

I would Talk to Ben Syring At Hornady, He built my dies and should still have the Cad drawings for the dies. They were the New Dimension dies and worked perfect with out any loses of the 375 RUM cases.

Got dies in route. If I can remember the photobucket deal I'll post some pics. I am proud of this build. It is two knotches above my 416 Ruger and I shot (3) Nilgai last month and the 350 Barnes TTSX in the Ruger took everyone of them off their feet. This RUM should be something

If you can find some 375 RUM brass It wont have to be sized up as much. (It is the same as the 300 RUM but the necks will be thicker after sizing)

Here is some information on mine. https://www.longrangehunting.com/threads/416-buff.21003/

This might help.

I hunted Nilgai with a 416 Remington because I was told how tough they were and found the 416 Remington more than enough but wanted to build something between the Remington And the 416 Weatherby on a 700 Remington action. After talking to Remington and finding out that they were not going to manufacture a 416 RUM in fear of killing their 416, I then started talking to all of the reamer manufactures to see if any wildcatters had done this. Their response was unanimously No ether they had not, or were not allowed to share that information, (Proprietary).

So rather than change the cartridge size I left it as is except for necking up to 416 so if Remington ever did make a 416 RUM, I would be good to go. This cartridge did exactly what I wanted it to and split the velocity difference between the Remington and the Weatherby without pressure issues. It is also very accurate.

I had thought about building my own dies or buying a set of 375 RUM dies and boring the necks until Hornady agreed to build them for me. Where did you finally get your dies?

A gunsmith on Big Bore Rifles facebook page did them for me in Washington state a super nice guy. They should be here today or tomorrow. I sent him the 3- die Redding deluxe set in 300 RUM and he anealed them and took them out to the proper 416 diameter with .003" neck tension. I sent him 4 dummy bullets we had made up so he could measure neck thickness. I ordered the little 416 neck expander and seater ftom Redding. They were here in 4- days and cheap. The barrel was from www.raggedholebarrels.com that 416 stainless Wilson .0002" hand lapped match barrel 27" blank was $165 we have done a dozen of their barrels and all have been 1/4 MOA or less. Those guys have a contract they have to buy 100 barrels a month for their pricing so they install a bunch and sell the rest at cost just to keep their pricing. We have done a bunch of 6.5's, 7x57, 375, 416's all have been shooters. Robert trues up chamber end a few thousandths and takes 1" off muzzle so they finish 26". I really appreciate your knowledgable posts. If you want to build another one I got the reamer you can borrow. I bought a new 700 Long Range in 300 RUM so it was just a rebarrel except for the 3.850" detachable mags and bottom metal from PTG. Put a 4-20oz trigger in it set at 8 oz. Let me know how I can help you.

This is just the information I've been looking for! I want to put together a 416 RUM for a brown bear rifle. The hardest part is finding someone to build a set of dies for it. I'd appreciate any more information or help you guys could give me.
